Weekend football betting tips for the Burnley vs Leicester City in the Championship on Saturday lunchtime.

When pre-season predictions were being written and ante post bets were completed, very few will have anticipated that these sides would meet as the top two at this stage of the season.

Take nothing away from either team, there is no doubt that both these sides fully merit their positions and have undoubtedly been amongst the most consistent squads in the division.

The fixtures are coming thick and fast and Burnley saw off a Doncaster side who generally don’t travel well, whilst Leicester will have bust copious coupons with their last gasp draw they obtained against Yeovil.

QPR are still within touching distance, but I can’t see either of these failing to finish in the automatic positions. The Clarets have a few selection worries, a small squad is proving tough with injuries to Danny Ings, Kieran Trippier and the suspension of Dean Marney all hindering them. Leicester have a number of players to call upon and will line up with the stronger squad, but Burnley have spirit and endeavor in abundance.

Burnley haven’t lost at home for over a year and I can’t see that changing. Leicester have a little more flair and creative talent than Burnley’s midweek opposition, but the Lancashire side should approach this with a dogged determination to stifle their opponents.

With top scorer Ings, sidelined, Sam Vokes has stepped up to the plate magnificently and has 20 goals for the season, including 2 penalties in his last 2 games.  I think he will find the net during the 90 minutes and 13/8 with Paddy Power appears to be the best price on the market for this betting tip. The Welshman was a nomadic striker who had more loan spells than hot dinners, but he has found a home in East Lancashire and Sean Dyche has utilised him to his full potential.

Both sides have attacking talent, Leicester are likely to start with Jamie Vardy and David Nugent up front, but they have Gary Taylor Fletcher, Chris Wood and the evergreen Kevin Phillips to call upon. Ashley Barnes is not a bad replacement for the stricken Ings either and Burnley weigh in with plenty of goals from midfield courtesy of Scott Arfield, Junior Stanislas and Michael Kightly, so I predict both teams will find the back of the net. It’s 4/6 with William that both teams score during the 90 minutes.

It’s hard to pick a winner between these two sides, Burnley are unbeatable at home, whilst Leicester always seen to find a way of avoiding defeat and fighting back from adversity, so a draw seems the logical option to take a chance on for our final football betting tip. The Draw is available at 6/4 with Ladbrokes.
