Football Accumulator Tips 18th November

Brighton vs Aston Villa – Brighton win

The Seagulls are flying high and have the second-best form behind Newcastle. They beat Norwich 5-0 and followed it up with a superb win against Bristol City. That could have been a tricky fixture at Ashton Gate, but Brighton found themselves 2-0 up inside 20 minutes and the result never looked in doubt. They have tremendous spirit in the squad and should able to continue their streak on Friday night. Villa have been playing well and have improved under new boss Steve Bruce. Not only has the Geordie boss brought more passion to the club, he’s also made them harder to beat and they won’t make it easy for the hosts. But, they’ve only won once away from home in 15 months and although they are a threat, I think Brighton will have enough.

Lorient v Monaco – Monaco win

Monaco went into the International Break in fine form and were firing them in for fun. Radamel Falcao has re-found his form, but have to settle for a place on the bench here. Kevin Mbappe-Lottin is one for the future and is being watched by manty clubs, he could play a big part here. Les Rouges et Noir hit 6 past Nancy two weeks ago and put six past Montpellier before that.. Their form on the road hasn’t been as good, but they did put Metz to the sword winning 7-0 there back in October. Lorient have a new coach as Bernard Casoni has been installed after weeks of deliberation. He has to deal with a tricky first fixture and a number of injuries to first team players. This isn’t ideal for Casoni and although his side will fight and have an air of unpredictability about them, Monaco should get the job done here with their firepower.

Lille v Lyon – Draw

Lyon come here off back to back wins, but they never fare well visiting Lille. Stade Pierre Mauroy is a fairly new stadium, but Lyon haven’t emerged victorious from it yet. Their last away win in Lille came back in 2008. The hosts make it tough for teams and were only narrowly beaten by PSG a few weeks back. Just a single goal was enough for the Champions and Lille will take a similar approach here. They’ve beaten Nancy, Dijon and Bastia here already although they have lost to Monaco and Toulouse. Lyon haven’t been brilliant on their travels so far this season and have just two victories to their name. They beat Nancy and then surprisingly got the better of Toulouse. They weren’t convincing last time out against Bastia winning just 2-1 against the 9 man side. Bruno Genesio wasn’t pleased with that performance and his side need to show more here.

Orleans v Nimes – Nimes win

Off to Ligue 2 for our fourth selection as Nimes visit Orleans. The hosts form has dropped off a cliff recently and they haven’t won since the 16th of September. They’ve scored just one goal in their last four games in Ligue 2 and although they’ve picked up a few draws here, they might come unstuck against a decent Nimes outfit. The visitors have won four of their last five away matches and arrive here in good form. They’ve beaten Tours and Niort and most impressively Valenciennes on the road. They’ve hit 14 goals in their last five away matches and have no problems on their travels.
