Europa League BTTS Tips 20th October
Genk v Athletic Bilbao
Bilbao travel to Belgium on matchday three of the Europa League off the back of six wins in their last seven games in all competitions. They found themselves behind at the weekend to Real Sociedad, but completed the comeback to emerge 3-2 winners. It was an end-to-end game which saw plenty of chances and I wouldn’t be surprised if this goes the same way. The home side aren’t goal shy either with 12 scored in their last 5 matches in all competitions and BTTS would have landed in each of their last four matches. Peter Maes’ side have kept just one clean sheet since the end of August which came against an amateur side in the early stages of the cup. Bilbao have scored in every game since the 15th of September and we should be in for an entertaining 90 minutes. Neither of their games in this competition so far have finished with both sides on the scoresheet, but Genk have had 3-1 and 3-2 scorelines and should make this a very open match.
Mainz v Anderlecht
We’re relying on another Belgian side for goals on Thursday night as this time Anderlecht travel to Germany to face in-form Mainz. The German side have been in imperious goalscoring form lately with a 3-2 win against Gabala coming in the previous round. They kicked off proceedings in this group with a 1-1 draw with St Etienne. Each of their last five matches have landed BTTS including an entertaining 4-4 draw with Hoffenheim. They beat Darmstadt here at the weekend which followed on from a narrow 3-2 loss to Leverkusen. They have firepower in abundance and Turkish midfielder Yunus Malli has been in decent form. Anderlecht drew 1-1 with St Etienne in their most recent away game in the competition and they’ll be hoping to pick up the points here. They’ve been quite solid recently domestically, but they’ll have a job on their hands stopping Mainz from getting on the scoresheet.

Rapid Vienna v Sassuolo
The other game in the group containing Genk and Bilbao sees Sassuolo travel to Austria to face Rapid Vienna. Both these sides will be looking to catch the Belgian side and will fancy their chances here. So far, Sassuolo have scored four and conceded three in their two Europa League games whilst the hosts have scored three and conceded three. BTTS has landed in all but one of Sassuolo’s away games so far this season and it looks to continue here. A defeat to Pescara was the only match in which they failed to find the net this season and they will fancy their chances of finding a way past a Rapid Vienna defence which hasn’t kept a clean sheet for four games. On a positive note for the hosts, they’ve scored seven goals in their last three home games and will be confident they can get something from this match.
Steaua Bucharest v FC Zurich
FC Zurich won their last Europa League encounter seeing off Osmanlispor by two goals to one. That was the perfect response to their opening defeat against Villareal. They’ve given a decent account of themselves for a side who dropped into the second tier of the Swiss League and they’re already five points clear of their nearest rival domestically. They’re hoping to translate that form into this competition. They’re scoring goals which breeds confidence and they should be able to find a way past the Romanian side. It’s five games since Steaua last kept a clean sheet, but they are scoring goals and they’ll be desperate to lift themselves off the bottom of the Europa League group. They’ve only scored once in the competition, but it came here at home and they should be able to find the back of the net again.
