West Brom v Middlesbrough Prediction – Middlesbrough win

Middlesbrough picked up maximum points on Sunday against Sunderland and they could make it 6 from 6 at the Hawthornes. They are set up defensively which helps them on their travels. We’ve had moments of magic from Christian Stuani so far, but it won’t be long before Gaston Ramirez and Alvaro Negredo start finding the back of the net with regularity. The latter has already opened his account for the season. West Brom beat Crystal Palace before a disappointing reverse against Everton followed. They were dumped out of the cup by Northampton in extra time in midweek. If Pulis is to retain his record of never being relegated his side need to improve defensively and Middlesbrough could punish them here.

 

Den Haag v Heracles Prediction – Den Haag win

Heracles are the kind of side who are great to back at home, but you cannot trust away from home. They failed to score against a very impressive Feyenoord side last week, but we aren’t holding that against them. I think they’ll struggle here because Den Haag have started the season brilliantly. Their manager was quick to dispel any notion of a title tilt this season after collecting 9 points from 3 games. They’ve scored 7 and won their opening home game 3-0. This match won’t be as easy, but they should have enough to get the job done. They’ve only conceded twice in three games, which is a big improvement from last season. They’ve got the winning mentality after winning 10 consecutive games across pre-season and the start of this campaign.

 

Las Palmas v Granada Prediction – Las Palmas win

Las Palmas capitalised on a horror show at the back from Valencia on Monday night with a 2-4 win. They rarely take all three points on their travels so this was a huge boost at the start of the season. They only lost 4 of the last 16 games at home last season and only Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and (an improved) Valencia took all points back across the water with them. They are strong here and should have too much for Granada. The visitors picked up a decent point at home to Villarreal in their opening game and will cause problems for their hosts. But, Las Palmas showed that goalscoring touch and were ruthless in front of goal.

 

New York Red Bulls v New England Revolution Prediction – New York Red Bulls win

This is a lovely game for NY Red Bulls as they look to make ground on their City rivals. NYCFC sit top of the Eastern Conference and the Red Bulls need to start turning draws into wins to catch them. They are very strong at home though and beat Montreal Impact here recently. New England Revolution are in poor form and are struggling for goals. They’ve hit just two in their last five and couldn’t find a way past a very poor San Jose Earthquakes in midweek. Red Bulls also have the luxury of a rest in midweek and will come into this much fresher. Bradley Wright Phillips is free on injury and could cause problems for the NE Revolution defence.

 

Sundsvall v Malmo Prediction – Malmo win

A short price selection to round off the accumulator in Sweden. Malmo sit top of the table and are playing well. They may have lost in the cup in midweek but it was a weakened team. Sundsvall started the season strongly and were one of the tougher teams to beat at home, but it’s tailed off since then and they’ve scored just a single goal in their last three home matches, losing two of them. They’ve been defeated in 4 of their 9 home games this season and they will struggle to find a way past a Malmo side who have conceded just 7 goals in 10 games. Malmo have hit 22 goals in that time and should be too strong at a short, but fairly safe price.
