Leyton Orient vs Fulham Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Leyton Orient host Fulham in the newly branded EFL Cup tonight and our football predictions include a correct score tip and anytime goalscorer bet.

There are no fewer than 30 matches in the 1st round of the EFL Cup tonight and we’ve taken a look at the game between Leyton Orient and Fulham at Brisbane Road. We fancy it to be an entertaining affair.

Leyton Orient v Fulham Preview

Leyton Orient

Leyton Orient scored one of the quickest goals of the weekend when they took the lead at Whaddon Road after just three minutes. New signing Gavin Massey netted and the O’s looked good value for their lead. They couldn’t add to it, despite their plentiful firepower.

Jay Simpson is rumoured to be heading to Southend and therefore is unlikely to play any part in this match. It’s a huge blow to Orient’s promotion chances and may cause yet more hostility between the fans and owner Francesco Becchetti.

Jordan Bowery and Ollie Palmer should easily get enough goals between them this season in League Two, but will they provide enough a threat to a Fulham defence which kept out Newcastle United on Friday. Orient have also had a day less to prepare for this encounter having last played on Saturday and it’s a quick turnaround for a side who have only just started their campaign.

Several of the Orient players have also been hit by illness this weekend and could miss out here or have to play whilst still suffering some ailments. Alex Cisak, Liam Kelly, Dean Cox and Sammy Moore are amongst those under the weather. Robbie Weir also picked up a knee injury in pre-season and this match may come too soon for the former Burton midfielder. Not ideal for Andy Hessenthaler as he looks to pull off a shock in the 1st round of the competition.

Fulham

Just about everybody was writing off The Cottagers on Friday night as they lined up against Newcastle, but they pulled off a huge shock in beating the Magpies. Nobody was expecting the Fulham backline to be watertight, but it held firm under little examination from Newcastle. Matt Smith nodded in the winner, prompting Fulham fans to say ‘Ross who?’

Jokanovic was visibly delighted with his side’s start to the season following the match and he may opt to make a couple of changes here as he looks to keep his squad fresh ahead of the weekend. Richard Stearman and young striker Cauley Woodrow may get a game here. Their only absentee is Ryan Fredericks.

Goalscorer Smith praised the confidence among the squad post-match and the tenacity of Denis Odoi was clear to see. Odoi apart, Fulham didn’t do anything spectacular, but they played for one another, kept it tight and were decisive when it mattered. The ingredients of a very decent team.

After spending most of last season on the sidelines and in the treatment room, it was good to see Smith get his goal. He is a towering presence and is a real nuisance. If he starts here, Leyton Orient will have to track his every move.

Leyton Orient v Fulham Predictions

I believe the Cottagers can make it back to back wins here for my first Leyton Orient vs Fulham prediction. They had plenty of belief and I worry about Orient’s fitness and squad state following the bug which swept through the camp.

It’s always a little trickier to work out who will be in the EFL starting line-ups for tonight, but I think Cauley Woodrow should get some minutes under his belt here. He is a good finisher and livewire and I fancy him to open his account for the season.

Anytime Goalscorer Prediction – Cauley Woodrow – 2/1 with Coral: BET HERE.

At a much larger price, I’m going to take a punt on a correct score prediction for my third Leyton Orient v Fulham betting tip. I think Fulham will win here, but they won’t run away with it.
