Germany vs France Betting Tips and Predictions

Germany vs France betting tips and predictions for tonight’s Euro 2016 semi-final including a team to win prediction and 14/1 goalscorer betting tip.

It doesn’t seem long since France were kicking off their Euro 2016 campaign against Romania, but we’ve reached the Semi-Final stage already and the hosts will face Germany in Marseille. We’ve got the best bets for the match tonight.

Germany vs France Predictions

One of the least surprising results of the tournament so far was Germany’s penalty triumph against Italy on penalties. Usually ruthlessly efficient from 12 yards, they squeezed past their opponents after a series of woeful shootout by the Azurri.

The final score was 1-1 and either side could have gone through, but it’s Germany who progressed and they are rewarded with a game against the hosts. This was always regarded as the harder side of the draw and with Spain already eliminated, one of these two giants of world football will have to miss out on the Euro 2016 final on Sunday.

Germany are yet to properly convince. They haven’t quite clicked up front. They looked back to their best against Slovakia, but they weren’t fluid enough against Italy and they need to step up a level here. Thomas Muller hasn’t had the best competition, but he’s never flourished in the Euros. He also appears to being playing slightly out of position. As an attacking unit, Germany have made changes throughout the tournament, but they are yet to settle on any of them. Saying that, they are the kind of team who often progress without looking at their best.

There are some notable absentees for this match though with Mats Hummels a big loss at the back. Mario Gomez and Sami Khedira will also be absent but Bastian Schweinsteiger will start and captain Germany. It could cause a few problems for the Germans and the replacements will need to settle in straight away. They haven’t had an easy ride though with both Poland and Italy tough opponents whereas France have faced Iceland, Republic of Ireland and Switzerland.

France looked very impressive dismantling Iceland on Sunday and appear to have plenty of options in attack. There are still questions about their defensive set up and they were unpicked fairly easily by Iceland. They do seem to have the firepower to outgun most teams and if Griezmann, Payet and Giroud carry on their good goalscoring form, they’ll be hard to stop.

They are usually pretty good on home soil as well and they will be roared on by a vociferous crowd. Didier Deschamps has made some decent substitutions during the tournament and some brave calls. He appears to be able to rotate his squad without any major consequences.

Payet is such a huge talent and whether he is on set piece duty or shooting from distance, he is hugely effective and has made his mark on this tournament. Germany will be looking to stop the West Ham man from the off.

There is a confidence running through the French squad and even when they went behind against the Republic of Ireland, they showed great determination to find a way through. They have the talent to find holes in the German backline, especially without Hummels. Although the French defence is occasionally shaky and disorganised, I haven’t seen enough from Germany going forward to suggest they’ll win this. My first Germany vs France prediction is for France to win. They are 15/8 with Coral.

France have conceded in three of their five games at this tournament and have scored against every team, barring Switzerland. They have often left it late, but always seem to find a way. Germany are also a threat going forward and they found a way past Italy. My second Germany vs France betting tip is for Both Teams to Score? Yes. It’s Evens with Ladbrokes.

Plenty of goalscoring picks in this match, but there’s a bet which has been profitable throughout this tournament. Dimitri Payet has lit up the tournament and he may get another chance to rifle one in from distance again. My third Germany vs France prediction is for Dimitri Payet to score from outside the area. It is 14/1 with William Hill.
