Cardiff City vs QPR Betting Tips, Predictions and Preview

Cardiff vs QPR betting tips and predictions for this weekend’s Championship fixture and our football tipster has included the best three bets for the match,

The 3pm kick off at the Cardiff City Stadium sees play-off hopefuls Cardiff host QPR and we have the best bets for the match in our betting preview for Cardiff vs QPR. Realistically, Cardiff are the only side who can still compete for that coveted 6th spot. QPR are the visitors to South Wales as they look to stop the Bluebirds play-off push.

Cardiff vs QPR Preview

Cardiff

It’s not been a bad season for Cardiff. First of all, we’ve seen increasingly less of Vincent Tan, which can only be a good thing and with five games to go, they’re still in with a shout of the play-offs. Russell Slade came under fire earlier in the season, but there is no doubt that the players are playing for him, particularly here at home. 11 of their 16 victories this season have been here in front of their own fans and they’ve been victorious in three of the last four. Their away form has been a little hit and miss and they could really have done without conceding a 93rd minute goal to Fulham on Saturday, knocking a huge dent into their play-off ambitions. They trail Sheffield Wednesday by five points, but with the Owls being stuffed 4-1 last weekend, they’ll be hoping their confidence is low and they can close the gap this weekend.

One of the success stories of the last few months has surely been the addition of Lex Immers. The Dutchman has made an impact in his short stay in South Wales and Cardiff are apparently working hard to sign him permanently from Feyenoord.

If Lex Immers does remain at the club, there’s no guarantee that he’ll be coached by Slade. The former Leyton Orient boss has yet to discuss his contract beyond the end of May, but believes he deserves to stay even if his side miss out on the play-offs.

QPR

QPR could have a huge say in the play-off and promotion picture yet, any result here and it’s unlikely Cardiff can catch Sheffield Wednesday, they travel to Brighton next week and could potentially send their promotion ambitions off course. They haven’t been bad recently, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is clearly getting his messages and philosophies across. They beat Charlton with a last minute goal and showed plenty of fight in recent weeks. They’re a little unreliable away from home although they’ve been drawing plenty recently with three of their last four ending 1-1.

It’s likely that Hasselbaink will already be looking ahead to next season and plotting an ambitious promotion campaign. He says he won’t be afraid to throw in a few youngsters between now and the end of the season. He has plenty of players out of contract at the end of the season, including veterans Clint Hill and Karl Henry.

Cardiff vs QPR Team News

Jamie Mackie will definitely miss out on this match as he continues his comeback from injury. Gabriele Angella will also be absent for the trip West. James Perch is rated 50-50 for the match after picking up a thigh injury.  Clint Hill is back for this, but whether JFH opts for the wily defender or a younger member of the squad remains to be seen.

One definite absentee is Ben Turner who will miss out for the home side. Anthony Pilkington will have a late fitness test after being dogged by a knee injury in recent weeks. Stuart O’Keefe could also be considered for selection.

Cardiff vs QPR Predictions

With more to play for and a decent home record, Cardiff should be able to get the job done. With QPR possibly experimenting with their line-up, this could be a good opportunity for the Bluebirds to take a step closer to the play-offs. My first Cardiff vs QPR prediction is for Cardiff to win. They are 21/20 with William Hill.

QPR do tend to score in their away games though and with three previous 1-1s from four matches, I’d back them to at least make their mark here. My second Cardiff v QPR betting tip is for Both Teams to Score? Yes. It can be backed at 5/6 with Bet365.

With Anthony Pilkington not a confirmed starter, Lex Immers looks the best bet in the goalscorer market. He has five goals and will be looking to continue his fine form. My third Championship prediction for Cardiff v QPR this weekend is for Lex Immers to score anytime. He is 21/10 with Bet Victor.
