Leicester vs Southampton predictions and weekend football betting tips for Sunday afternoon’s first Super Sunday fixture including the best odds for our tipsters’ bets.
Leicester host Southampton at the King Power stadium in the first of two fixtures on Super Sunday looking to keep their lead at the top of the Premier League table.
Leicester vs Southampton Predictions
Having the international break probably did neither of these in form teams a favour. Both were on winning streaks and with neither having any other competitions to worry about, they weren’t in need of a rest either.
Leicester have won four of their last five matches, and all by the 1-0 score line. They were fortunate to beat Palace in their last match, however at this stage of the season all that matters is getting the three points. They have no fresh injuries so Claudio Ranieri has a full squad to choose from, and I suspect he will once again go with the usual Leicester starting XI.
Ronald Koeman’s side have been strange all season. They tend to go on consistent runs, whether it be winning ones or losing ones. The re-introduction of Fraser Forster seems to have had a positive effect on the side as a whole. Graziano Pelle seems to have wiggled his way back into Koeman’s plans which has given them a focal point upfront. The impressive 3-2 victory against Liverpool will have boosted their confidence greatly, as they were 2-0 down and missed a penalty after 60 minutes before scoring three goals.
Both teams are buzzing and this match could be a real test for both, as Leicester will have to watch every other team around them play before they get to hit the field. Southampton have nothing to lose and as they like to play on the break, may let Leicester have the majority of the ball. I do think both sides are evenly matched and therefore I can’t see past a bore draw for my first Leicester vs Southanpton prediction this weekend. 23/10 are the odds offered with Betfred.

My second Leicester v Southampton prediction is going to be under 1.5 goals. Leicester have really changed their game since the start of the season, where they would usually win 3-2, but now they are closing teams out and winning 1-0. This is a sign that they are adapting to the way teams are shaping up against them, and is testament to the manager and players. Southampton are usually defensively strong, and know that to get something out of the game they need to keep Vardy and Mahrez quiet. Under 1.5 goals is 2/1 with Bet Victor.

My last weekend Leicester vs Southamtpon prediction is going to be Victor Wanyama to be shown a card. He does like a tackle and rightly or wrongly, referees will be looking at him more due to his red cards this season. I do think he probably has been over-criticised for his tackling, but I don’t think he has learned his lesson and the fact that Bet VIctor are offering 9/5 for him to be shown a card, I feel these odds are too good to turn down.
