It’s not the end to the season that Fulham would have wanted or envisaged. They wouldn’t have been expecting to be face MK Dons at the start of April requiring a win in order to stay clear of the drop zone.
The reality is that these two sides sit 21st and 22nd in the Championship and neither will want to spend next season in League One. For MK Dons, it would be an instant return to a level they spent so long battling to leave but for Fulham it would be a complete disaster. After spending £11m on Ross McCormack and assembling a decent looking squad, they were expected to push on for a play-off place. Uncertainty in the hierarchy and a succession of managers haven’t been able to push the Cottagers up the table with their leaky defence not helping matters.
With Bolton pretty much gone and Charlton leaving themselves with plenty of work to do, that leaves just a single place in the relegation zone to avoid.
You would assume Fulham have too much firepower to slip out of the division, but that hasn’t been the case. They looked unplayable for 45 minutes against QPR in February, but haven’t been able to replicate that performance since.
It’s now six games without a win and coupled with Rotherham’s recent upturn in form, it’s been a bad few weeks for the West Londoners. They’ve had some difficult games here recently, losing to Burnley (after leading) and Middlesbrough, but they really should have beaten Bristol City. Although under Lee Johnson, the Robins have become deadlier.
MK Dons were three unbeaten before going down 2-1 to Brighton last time out. The closing stages were controversial though and the Carl Baker’s missed penalty could prove pivotal come the end of the season. They have been showing plenty of spirit recently and they have been battling for points. They’ve struggled for goals all season though and they’ve scored just two in their last three matches.

MK Dons will be without Kyle McFadzean who was sent off recently and is serving his suspension. Jordan Spence and Anthony Kay are likely to line up as the centre back pairing for Karl Robinson. Samir Carruthers is eligible to play, but he is unlikely to be catapulted straight back into the team.
Fulham are unlikely to make changes; they only have Lasse Christensen absent. Scott Parker may miss out at the expense of Rohan Ince who has been decent since arriving on loan.
