Blackburn vs Middlesbrough Betting Tips and Predictions

Blackburn v Middlesbrough betting tips and football predictions for tonight’s Championship fixture including an anytime goalscorer tip and both teams to score bet.

There’s just one match in the Championship to night as a resurgent Middlesbrough play their game in hand at Ewood Park. Our betting preview includes the best three football tips and odds.

Blackburn v Middlesbrough Predictions

This game was originally scheduled for Boxing Day, but the unpredictable British climate put pay to that and both these sides put their feet up and finished off the leftovers instead. After their recent miserable run, Middlesbrough have had two consecutive victories and kept a clean sheet against Fulham on Saturday. They have their eye on the new leaders Burnley, who have played two more games than them and the visitors could go top if they collect all three points here.

Middlesbrough

Realistically, it’s any two from three for automatic promotion unless one of these sides hits the buffers. Hull, Burnley and Middlesbrough are all very solid and have goals in them and it will be a very interesting run-in. The Teessiders will not want to go through the heartache of the play-offs again though and Aitor Karanka will be desperate to get his side to the Premier League via those one of those cherished top two spots.

It’s been a good few days, but they have a hectic schedule, playing Saturday-Tuesday-Friday this week. Injuries have already hit this season with Daniel Ayala missing and George Friend only recently returned to the left-back position. He may be tempted to shuffle his pack, but his strongest 11 will be needed against a tough Blackburn side.

Blackburn

Rovers picked up all three points on Saturday at the death against MK Dons. A superb Jordi Gomez free kick won it and eased any lingering relegation fears. Paul Lambert’s side are better than their current league position though and Gomez is an astute loan signing. They also have Danny Graham on their books. The former Swansea man started his career at Middlesbrough and will have a point to prove against his former side.

Blackburn have now scored three goals in each of their last two home matches, which is remarkable considering how short of goals they have been in 2016. This is a step up in class though from the teams they have beaten and Boro could be tough to break down.

These met fairly recently and shared a 1-1 draw at the Riverside. Jordan Rhodes had only just completed his transfer between the two clubs at that point. He didn’t start on Saturday and could have been kept fresh for this encounter with his former employers.

It’s just eight wins all season for Blackburn, five of them here at Ewood Park, where they have also drawn seven times. The sides they have seen off are Charlton, Rotherham, MK Dons, Fulham and Ipswich. Four of those five are in the bottom half with the first three embroiled in a relegation battle. Middlesbrough have lost to Hull & play-off chasing Cardiff on the road, Reading and Bristol City. The latter appear to be Boro’s bogey team having beaten them 1-0 twice this season.

Betting Preview and Tips

I think Middlesbrough will win, but it will tight. Paul Lambert’s side recently lost 0-2 here to Hull and 0-1 to Brighton and I think we will see another top team only just squeeze past the Lancashire side. The first of my Blackburn v Middlesbrough predictions is for Middlesbrough to win.

Middlesbrough’s defence has been very impressive this season, but without Ayala, it has an inexperienced feel about it. Dale Fry looks like a good prospect and will be benefitting hugely from the experience, but after watching the highlights, I felt Middlesbrough were lucky to leave Craven Cottage with a clean sheet as Fulham spurned some decent opportunities. With Blackburn back amongst the goals and creating opportunities, I can see them scoring here. The second of Blackburn v Middlesbrough betting tips is for Both Teams to Score? Yes.

What are the best odds for both teams to score tonight? 13/11 with 888Sport.

Jordan Rhodes must have been left frustrated sat on the bench against Fulham at the weekend, but it is likely he will get a run-out here against his former club. He is sharp and should have plenty of opportunities come his way, he’s the one for tonight’s anytime goalscorer tip. The third of my Blackburn v Middlesbrough predictions is for Jordan Rhodes to score anytime.

What are the best odds or Jordan Rhodes to score anytime tonight? 2/1 with bet365.
