Hull City v Sheffield Wednesday predictions and betting tips for Friday night’s Championship fixture with an anytime goalscorer tip, team to win bet and both teams to score yes or no.
Hull’s promotion campaign goes marching on as they host Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night at the KC Stadium. We’ve picked out the best bets football tips for the Championship clash.
Hull v Sheffield Wednesday Predictions
Steve Bruce’s Hull look the real deal. A difficult trip to Portman Road faced them on Tuesday night and they won. Not many sides come away from Suffolk with the points and the Tractor Boys have an excellent Tuesday night record. But, Hull completed the perfect away performance as they emerged 1-0 winners. A well-taken Mo Diame goal was enough to keep the Tigers fine season on track. Incidentally, watch out for Diame whenever Hull are away from home, he scores most of his goals on the road.
They’re back at the KC now where they have won 11 of their 15 home matches. They’ve only lost once and have a handy knack of keeping clean sheets here. Just six goals have gone past them this season, which is remarkable. They host a Sheffield Wednesday side who have struggled away from home all season in stark contrast to their near impeccable home performances.
Wednesday sit 6th in the table, but they have won just four times away from Hillsborough which is a very disappointing statistic that Ricardo Carvalhal will be looking to abolish.
There’s no doubting Wednesday’s play-off credentials though and they deserve their current position in the league. They have been nothing short of breath-taking at home for the majority of the season, scoring goals for fun and winning by some convincing scorelines.
It was looking like they were close to sorting out their away day blues when they picked up seven points from a possible nine, but they suffered a setback against Preston on Saturday after losing Fernando Forestieri to a needless red card.
The Owls will be disappointed not to have taken all three points when they hosted QPR in midweek and they cannot afford to suffer a blip at this stage of the season. This will be an extremely difficult assignment though and it’s hard to see them getting anything here when looking for predictions on the match.
Hull have no injury worries for this match and they have plenty of depth to their squad with many talented players struggling for game time.
Sheffield Wednesday will be boosted by the return of the aforementioned Fernando Forestieri, but will it be enough to take the points here?
Hull have now kept four clean sheets in the league and cup including one against Premier League Arsenal. They’ve also kept clean sheets in their last four home matches. They’ve conceded just twice in eight games with only Burnley and QPR breaching the watertight Hull defence.
I think Wednesday are going to find it difficult to break through and I can’t see anything other than a home win for my football prediction on Friday night.
My first Hull v Sheffield Wednesday prediction is for Hull to win. What are the best odds for Hull to beat Sheffield Wednesday? It’s 4/5 with William Hill.
The under 2.5 goals market isn’t looking appetising for this game with Under 2.5 goals being extremely short. It’s better to look at one of the teams keeping a clean sheet. With Hull’s defence is supreme shape and Michael Dawson organising the back four, I think they might keep another clean sheet here.
My second Hull v Sheffield Wednesday betting tip is for Both Teams to Score? No. It can be backed at odds of 4/6 with Betfred.
Abel Hernandez has scored 16 goals this season and will be aiming for the magical 20 mark. Nine of those strikes have been at home and he will look to add another here. Hull are unlikely to get more than one or two here, but I think he can be among the goalscorers which leads me to my anytime goalscorer tip.
My third Hull v Sheffield Wednesday prediction is for Abel Hernandez to score anytime. What are the best odds for Hernandez to score against Sheffield Wednesday? 9/5 with 888Sport.
