  • Championship Fixture – Brighton v Brentford
  • Kick-off time – 19.45 Friday 5th February
  • Is it on TV? Sky Sports

There’s action on Friday night from the Championship as Brentford make a trip to the South Coast to face Brighton and we’ve got a match prediction, both teams to score and anytime goalscorer betting tip.

Brighton

It’s been a funny old season for Brighton. Holding the only unbeaten record in the league, they were proudly sat atop the pyramid looking down on 23 Championship clubs before the inevitable slump. A defeat by Middlesbrough provoked a run in which they couldn’t buy a win. Chris Hughton is an astute manager though and he’s recruited players with flair (Anthony Knockaert) and experience (Steve Sidwell) and the unknowns (Jiri Skalak & Rorvik Bjordal) to help the quest for a play-off place.

They have recently picked up again with two victories in a row and anyone who goes into a game with the Seagulls thinking they’ll be a soft touch, will be mistaken.

The one thing they seem to have in abundance now is creativity with the new additions and the steady hands of Beram Kayal and Dale Stephens in midfield. They are well-stocked in that area.

Brentford

Brentford kept hold of Alan Judge which is a huge boost for the rest of the campaign, but they did lose wantaway defender James Tarkowski to Burnley. They didn’t recruit anyone, but Dean Smith has a decent squad to work with and their eyes will also be looking towards the play-offs.

After three losses in a row, they have bounced back with four points from a possible six from games with Leeds and Preston. Both sides are quite dogged and difficult to beat, so it’s not a bad return and a decent way to end a miserable run.

Although three defeats in a row isn’t ideal at any level, they did play leaders (at the time) Middlesbrough, in-form Birmingham and free-scoring Burnley. Not an easy run of games.

The experience of Bobby Zamora has been key the hosts as he has scored two of the last three goals for the club. The nous of the 35-year-old will help the younger heads around the club such as on-loan striker James Wilson.

Brighton v Brentford Predictions

These two sides actually met on Boxing Day during the Seagulls run of five matches without scoring and the match ended goalless.

I think these teams are quite evenly matched and once again, I think there’s a good chance it could end evenly for my football tips. Brighton have started winning again and they beat out-of-form Blackburn and in-form Huddersfield. Brentford will be a challenge and they won’t roll over easily. The Bees don’t have the best record away, but they’ve won two of their last three on the road and will be determined to come back to West London with at least a point.

The first of my Brighton v Brentford predictions is a match result prediction and for the match to end a draw. It can be backed at 5/2 with Betfred.

This won’t end 0-0 this time around, Brighton have started scoring again and the injection of loan players had given them added impetus. It’s a rare occasion when Brentford don’t find the net and I’d back both of them to get on the scoresheet this time around.

The second of my football predictions for Brighton v Brentford tonight is for Both Teams to Score? Yes. It can be backed at 4/5 with William Hill.

Seeing Anthony Knockaert back in the Championship reminded everyone of how skilful and tricky he can be as he helped fire Leicester to the Premier League. He’s surplus to requirements at the KP, but he can be pivotal for the Seagulls. He’s got an eye for goal and I’d back him to net here.

The third of my Brighton v Brentford betting tips is and anytime goalscorer tip and Anthony Knockaert to score anytime. He can be backed at 15/4 with Bet365.
