Sporting Gijon v Real Sociedad – Real Sociedad win
Sporting Gijon may be fun to say, but they’re not having much fun in La Liga at the moment. They’ve lost eight of the last nine games and are back in front of their home crowd to welcome Sociedad to town. The visitors are no great shakes, but they’re unbeaten in three and that should give them the confidence to take all three points back home. They’ve picked up five points from their last three games and have scored five times during that time. They beat Valencia at home and held both Vallecano and Deportivo to draws. The latter are often quite handy on the road. Gijon’s only victory in the last eight came at home to Las Palmas who are the poorest travellers in the league and it should be an away win here to open tonight’s accumulator tip.
Rennes v GFC Ajaccio – Draw
The battle of two teams on unbeaten runs in Ligue 1. GFC Ajaccio are now unbeaten in 11 games, which is pretty impressive at the top level in any country. Rennes are unbeaten in five, with a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Marseille the only recent blot on their copybook. There are a lot of draws in both of those runs however. Both Ajaccio and Rennes have drawn five of their last eight and when they met in September, yes, you’ve guessed it, it finished 1-1. Rennes have scored more and conceded less than Ajaccio but they’ve drawn three of the last four at home and it looks like it could be the same here again.
Kortrijk v Oostende – Oostende win
Kortrijk have taken a turn for the worse with their recent form, losing five straight matches. They were in decent form until that point, but they’ve now conceded 14 goals in those five outings. Oostende have decent away form, but lost their last away outing to Zulte Wagerem. They did hold Anderlecht to a 1-1 draw on the road, a side who are in-form and troubling the top of the table. Kortrijk’s problem is goalscoring and that could come back to haunt them here. Just 21 goals scored in 20 matches is nowhere near enough and getting past Oostende’s defence that have only conceded 26 goals all season could be difficult here.
Aberdeen v Dundee – Aberdeen win
Aberdeen are having a thoroughly decent season and they are sitting just behind leaders Celtic in the Scottish Premier League. They are a short pricefor today’s football accumulator here, but I think they’ll get the better of Dundee. They have the best form in the league, taking 18 points from a possible 24 and they look good to navigate their way into Europe again. They have conceded 22 times in 22 games and aren’t easily breached at the back. They haven’t been defeated in nine games and in their last six at home and I can’t see that run ending here. Dundee are a decent side, but they concede too many goals. They’ve let eight goals in the last three matches in the league and I fear that Aberdeen will simply just outscore them here.
Salernitana v Brescia – Bresica win
Another away win to finish off the 5-fold this evening as we head to the second tier of Italian football. It’s not been a good few weeks for the hosts Salernitana as they have lost all of their last four matches. They’ve conceded seven times and have scored just the once. They’ve only scored four times in the last eight games and they need to start finding their shooting boots if they are going to trouble 5th place Brescia. The visitors have been in decent form of late and are now unbeaten in eight games and have won their last two consecutive away matches. 6th place Bari and 12th place Vicenza have been seen off by them lately and they shouldn’t find 21st place Salernitana too much of a challenge.
