Middlesbrough v Everton Betting Tips, Predictions and Preview

Middlesbrough v Everton predictions and free football tips for betting on this week’s Capital One Cup including a preview from our tipster.

It’s the quarter final stage of the Capital One Cup and Everton travel to the Riverside Stadium to take on an in form Middlesbrough side looking for another Premier League scalp, will Middlesbrough cause a shock against Everton?

Middlesbrough v Everton Predictions

The Capital One Cup represents a great chance for Everton to get some silverware after a barren number of years without a trophy, but they’re up against a good Middlesbrough side who have only lost one of the last ten at home and that defeat to Bristol City came back in August. Everton have been scoring for fun in recent games, scoring 14 in four, but they’re up against a defence that has only conceded 12 all season. This will be a close one.

Since Aitor Karanka arrived at the Riverside, he’s instilled defensive discipline in ‘Boro. They’ve kept a clean sheet in almost 50% of games since Karanka took over. This season that has continued, and going forward Middlesbrough have improved too. Criticised last season for being too defensive, they’ve the third best goalscoring record in the Championship so far. They’ve scored 27 in 18 games and certainly pose a threat to the Toffees in this week’s Capital One Cup quarter final fixture.

That being said, my prediction for Middlesbrough v Everton is that I think Everton will just have enough to win here. I’m expecting Roberto Martinez to put out a strong side considering they’re not in action again until Monday night and this competition represents a good chance for them to end that 20-year trophy-less spell. With that in mind, I think Everton will start straight away on the front foot and get the first goal. The man I’m going for to get it is Romelu Lukaku who is my first goalscorer tip.

My first Middlesbrough v Everton prediction is for Romelu Lukaku to score first. The best odds for Lukaku first goal vs Boro are 5/1 with Paddy Power.

It won’t be easy though, and Middlesbrough will give everything in this one. Defensively Everton haven’t been as solid as we’ve come to expect from them recently, and I think the home side will take advantage. I’m going for an anytime correct score of 1-1 for a goalscorer tip in this week’s Capital One Cup match.

My second Middlesbrough v Everton prediction is for the score to be 1-1 at any point. The best odds for this tip are 17/10 with Bet Victor.

Cup games are always difficult to predict; I just think this will be a close one. I’m expecting a narrow victory in 90 minutes for the away side and the best way to bet on that is Everton to win by a single goal.

My final Middlesbrough v Everton betting tip is for Everton to win by exactly one goal; the best odds are 10/3 with Paddy Power.
