Charlton v Ipswich Predictions

Karel Fraeye says he isn’t worried about his tag as interim manager and he shouldn’t be as he has an excellent record in his short spell leading the Addicks. They won at St Andrews last weekend thanks to a goal from captain Johnny Jackson and that makes it back-to-back victories. Sheffield Wednesday were the victims the week before. Charlton are suddenly and they aren’t just beating teams around them, but possible top six contenders.

Ademola Lookman was making his first season for Charlton and was singled out for praise by his manager, it seems likely he will be given another start in this Saturday lunchtime encounter. After a run of seven games without a win, Ipswich have now picked up seven points from a possible nine and are back on track for a crack at promotion under Mick McCarthy. With so much firepower, it’s hard to compute their struggles, but with Daryl Murphy back amongst the goals, it’s a positive step forward.

Defending is a real problem though and just five clean sheets all season has caused them to drop a number of points. They have scored nine goals in their last three games though and it may be a case of concentrating on keeping Charlton out.

The home side played with a greater intensity at the weekend and that caused Birmingham problems and exploited their known weaknesses at home. Likewise, they will want to get at Ipswich from the beginning and ruffle their feathers.

Saturday was Charlton’s first clean sheet since the 18th August and it will be a boost to their leaky backline, but I don’t think they will keep the Suffolk side at bay.

After five matches without a goal, Charlton have now scored four goals in their last two games. With that resurgence and Ipswich rediscovering their goalscoring touch, this one will surely feature goals.

Our first Charlton v Ipswich prediction is for both teams to score. It can be backed at Evens with Coral.

Ipswich have been defeated four times this season, taking Blackburn out of the equation, all of their defeats were to top sides. Reading, Hull and Brighton were all victorious against The Tractor Boys.

After failing to win since the 21st August, Charlton look resurgent and have won back to back games. They will make it difficult for their visitors, but Ipswich don’t lose often. A Mick McCarthy trait is to dig in and find results.

Our second Charlton v Ipswich prediction is for the match to end a draw. It can be backed at 5/2 with Bet365.

The aforementioned Ademola Lookman is likely to get another start as he impressed the manager. He was plucked from the Under 21s and is a lively customer. He could give Ipswich some problems here.

Our third Charlton v Ipswich betting tip is for Ademola Lookman to score anytime. He is 14/5 with William Hill.
