It really has been a woeful start for José Mourinho and his men, that got worse this week when Stoke City dumped them out of the Capital One Cup on penalties. In truth, Chelsea didn’t play badly at the Britannia, Stoke keeper Jack Butland pulling off a number of good saves, but it’s still another defeat and Chelsea fans will be wondering when their fortunes will change.

 

As for Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp got his first win for the club with a 1-0 win in the same competition against Bournemouth, and there are signs he’s starting to improve his new team. They play a high line though and this is an area Chelsea could exploit.

 

From being the league’s best defence last season, Chelsea have kept just two clean sheets in the Premier League this time around. Defensively they’ve been poor, particularly in the full back areas, and with Liverpool playing their full backs high up the pitch the Anfield club will be looking to take advantage of this. Christian Benteke will return to the Liverpool starting line-up against Chelsea this weekend, he scored a fantastic header against Southampton from a great ball in from James Milner, and that’s how Liverpool will try and strike in this one.

I do think Liverpool will score here but to go to Chelsea and win is a big ask. Surely Chelsea will have to turn it around at some point?  It’s a tough one to predict for my football betting tips, I just fancy the draw though.
