Weekend football betting tips and Derby v Wolves predictions for Sunday’s Championship match and the best odds for our three football tips.
The Sunday game in the Championship comes from the iPro Stadium (or Pride Park if you prefer) as Wolves are the visitors and our football tipster has got his best three football betting tips for you.
Derby v Wolves Predictions
Both of these sides are in-form coming into this match. Derby were slow out of the traps this season under Paul Clement, but have finally started to click into gear, turning draws into wins.
Wolves went through a sticky patch, losing to Bolton, Middlesbrough and Cardiff, but they appear to have emerged from that poor run by putting together a decent sequence of results.
Derby are overwhelming favourites for this match in the latest betting odds, a little too short for my liking, it’s not wise to write off a resurgent Wolves side, who put three past Huddersfield last time. Prior to that, Huddersfield had been in decent nick, but the Molineux side were clinical in their finishing and Benik Afobe looked back to his best and showed the value of his price tag.
Only two points separate these sides and they are quite evenly matched in terms of performance this season. Derby have only conceded seven goals this season, which is admirable and despite their lack of early season goals, they have largely been resilient at the back.
Tom Ince has three goals in his last three goals and Darren Bent opened his account for the season recently, so there are plenty of dangers prevalent for the Wolves defence. Chris Martin is always a thorn in the side to a back four which hasn’t always been as impenetrable as Kenny Jackett would have liked.
It’s not quite happened for many of the new signings brought in during the transfer window to Wolves. Sheyi Ojo hasn’t quite filled the boots of Bakary Sako yet, but has the backing of his manager, whilst Adam Le Fondre hasn’t found his goalscoring touch as regularly as he would have hoped. The loss of Richard Stearman to Fulham was a blow, but they still have a number of key players including Kevin McDonald and James Henry.
I can’t take Derby at the short price being offered for my football betting tips on the weekend match. They don’t concede many goals, so it’s hard to write them off, but with Wolves recent upturn in fortunes, I’d favour the draw.
My first Derby v Wolves betting tip is for the match result to be a draw, the best odds are 14/5 with Bet Victor.

Wolves have kept three clean sheets in their last four games, which suggests that Kenny Jackett has finally found the right defensive formation. Kortney Hause, Danny Batth, Dominic Iorfa and Scott Golbourne is a very young back four, who are still learning their craft and this will be their toughest test yet. Down the other end, they have scored six goals without reply in their last two games, but they won’t have it as easy this time around. With defences very much in the ascendency, I fancy this one to have few goals so we look to the over/under goals market for our next betting tip.
My second Derby v Wolves prediction is for for Under 2.5 goals to be scored, the best odds for under 2.5 goals is 4/5 with Sky Bet.

After talking him up earlier, I can’t forego backing Tom Ince to score during the 90 minutes in the anytime goalscorer market. He is very much a confidence player, with three in three, despite the interruption of the International Break, he can continue in his rich vein of form. He showed at Blackpool that he is a possible match-winner and I’d back him to score here.
My third Derby v Wolves prediction for a goalscorer bet is Tom Ince to score anytime, the best odds are 23/10 at Paddy Power.
