Football Accumulator Coupon on Sunday:
West Brom v Chelsea – Both Teams to Score? No
West Brom haven’t scored a Premier League goal yet. They were outclassed by Man City on the opening weekend and then there was a bore draw with Watford last Saturday. Tony Pulis isn’t known for his attacking football, he is a pragmatic manager and will want his side to keep Chelsea out for as long as possible. Despite the signing of Solomon Rondon from Zenit, they haven’t found their goalscoring touch yet and it requires urgent action if Tony Pulis is to maintain his ‘never been relegated’ tag. Chelsea haven’t had the best start to the season. It’s been well documented, but they should be too good for West Brom and should keep them out as well.
Watford v Southampton – Both Teams to Score? Yes
It’s tempting to back Watford to win this, the traditional Europa League hangover could kick in for the Saints, but they are at home on this week to Midtjylland and there might be a chance they are reasonably fresh for this encounter with the Premier League new boys. Watford drew 2-2 on the opening day of the season, but then found West Brom defensively sound. Troy Deeney will surely get chances during the 90 minutes and Southampton were easily breached by Everton last weekend.
Everton v Manchester City – Over 2.5 goals
Man City couldn’t have asked for a better start to the campaign. They are yet to conceded a goal and have scored 6 along the way. They blew Chelsea away and Otemendi amongst their defensive ranks. Everton looked much better at the weekend and Lukaku looked back to his old self. The Belgian gets a lot of stick, but he does score goals and he’s still young and fairly raw. Everton seem to have remembered how to score goals, but they rarely keep clean sheets (Saturday being a rarity) and this one should feature goals.
Ingolstadt v Dortmund – Dortmund win
Dortmund started the season brightly, thumping Monchengladbach 4-0 and it’s hard to read anything into the first games of the campaign, but many people are hoping they give Bayern a bit of a run for their money this season. Under Jurgen Klopp, they started the season slowly 12 months ago, but they look more formidable this time around. Although Ingolstadt got a decent victory away at Mainz, they will not be as strong as the away side and the short odds reflect that.
Lille v Bordeaux – Lille win
Neither of these sides have started the new Ligue 1 campaign sensationally and they lie next to one another in the bottom half. But, Lille have faced Monaco and PSG. They’ve picked up 1 point from a possible 6, but it surely must get easier from here on in. Bordeaux are playing on Thursday in the Europa League and perhaps a little fatigue will creep in with it being so early in the season. Lille impressed last season and I think they will be strong again, don’t be fooled by their below par start
