Leeds v Sheffield Wednesday Betting Tips and Predictions

Leeds v Sheffield Wednesday betting tips and predictions for the Championship match this weekend with our free football betting tips.

A tasty looking Yorkshire derby is afoot for Saturday lunchtime and both these sides picked up useful points in midweek. Leeds were pegged back when 2-0 up away at Bristol City, frustration for Uwe Rosler and his men,  but it was quite the opposite for Sheffield Wednesday who rescued their match right at the death having been 1-0 down to Reading.

Leeds v Sheffield Wednesday Predictions:

Wednesday look more vibrant and exciting under Ricardo Carvalhal. Last year under Stuart Gray, they were extremely solid, dependable and rarely had defensive lapses. This year, they offer more of an attacking threat and will certainly score more goals. They’ve netted four times in their opening three league games, compared to just two at the same stage last season. They have made some decent signings and although some of the Portuguese contingent may take time to bed in, I think it’ll be a decent season for Wednesday.

Leeds have improved considerably over the summer, they will be relieved to see £3m signing Chris Wood net his first goal in midweek. That will take the pressure off him somewhat and he should relax and get back to his usual goalscoring form. They have a crop of exciting youngsters led by Alex Mowatt, Lewis Cook, Kalvin Phillips and Charlie Taylor and have the decent nucleus of a Championship squad. Stuart Dallas is another fantastic addition and if off-the-pitch issues can take a back seat, Uwe Rosler’s men should be able to challenge for the play-offs.

This game could easily end up all square with both sides evenly matched so far. The difference is that Leeds will be desperate for that first three point haul of the season and I think their determination is worth siding with. They are reeling after being pegged back in the 95th minute, Rosler even complained about the amount of time allowed and he’ll be determined to bounce back immediately. A 4th successive draw would leave them unbeaten, but three points would be perfect.

Sheffield Wednesday were beaten in their first away game of the season when they lost to current leaders Ipswich. There’s no shame in that, the Tractor Boys will be up there come the end of the season. But I think their away form will be less predictable this season. I do think they will score in the majority of games this campaign and I think they will at Elland Road. They have plenty of attacking options and I think they will give Leeds trouble here.

My second Leeds v Sheff Wed betting tip is for both teams to score, the best odds are 10/11 with Bet365.

Goals breed confidence and I think now that he has scored his first, Chris Wood will be eager to add to his tally. The Kiwi scores in streaks, but when he is on form, he can be formidable. He is best at Championship level and if they can get him firing, Leeds have a hell of a striker on their hands.

My last football prediction for Leeds v Sheffield Wednesday is Chris Wood to score anytime, the best odds are 13/5 at Ladbrokes.
