José Mourinho’s men have had a poor pre-season by their standards, losing to New York Red Bulls, penalty wins over Paris Saint Germain and Barcelona, a defeat to Arsenal in last Sunday’s Community Shield and a loss at Stamford Bridge to Fiorentina. It looks like they’ll be without their top goalscorer of last term Diego Costa, with one of Loic Remy and new loan signing Radamel Falcao deputising. Oscar could also start as Chelsea look to begin their title defence off with a win.

 

Swansea, though, will be no pushovers. They’re about to start their fifth season in the top flight and have established themselves as a steady Premier League side. I can see them progressing even further this season. New signing Andre Ayew has performed well in pre-season, scoring on his debut against Nottingham Forest and his link-up play with Bafetimbi Gomis and Jonjo Shelvey in particular looks promising. All three will have to be at their best if they want to cause an upset against the Champions but it wouldn’t surprise me if one of them broke through last season’s most solid defence.

Although I can see the Swans testing Chelsea’s back line, and despite Chelsea’s current poor form it’s hard to see past the blues for this one.
