Wolfsburg v Inter – Wolfsburg win

Wolfsburg take on the Italian side at the Volkswagen Arena and they have got to fancy their chances. The Bundesliga side have been playing well this season and currently sit in 2nd place in a very competitive division. They had a disappointing 1-0 loss to Augsburg at the weekend, but can bounce back against an Inter side who are struggling for any sort of consistency. They got past Celtic in the last round, winning 1-0 in Milan, but they will find the Germans a much tougher proposition, particularly on home soil. They have only been beaten once this season in their own back yard, that was against Everton, a side who relish this competition and should be able to preserve that record.

 

Everton v Dynamo Kiev – Everton win

The aforementioned Toffees come alive on a Thursday night and they have saved their best form for this competition. Roberto Martinez has been under scrutiny from the media for garnering significantly fewer points than this point last season, but they are the only English side left in the competition after dispatching of Young Boys in emphatic style. I think they will beat their opponents in the first leg and give themselves the advantage to take to Ukraine. Kiev lost in their first leg away at Guingamp, but they overcame the French side in the 2nd leg and although top of their division, I fancy Everton to see this one through.

 

Villareal v Sevilla – Both Sides to Score

It’s an all-Spanish affair in the Europa League as these two teams meet whilst holding 6th and 5th position in the league respectively. Both sides have been scoring of late with Sevilla’s last three away matches finishing 3-4, 2-3 and 4-3, they also scored in two 2-1 defeats prior to that. Villareal beat Celta Vigo 4-1 last time out at home and also managed to score against Barcelona, so they aren’t short of a few goals. The last two times that this game has been played at Camp Al Madriga, it has finished 1-2 and 2-2 so that bodes well here.

 

Napoli v Dinamo Moskva – Napoli win

Napoli are on a run of 5 clean sheets in the competition, but Moskva are yet to be beaten in the competition, but I am going to side with the Italian side. The Russians may be a touch rusty after their extended winter break and the Italians have been comparatively busy. Napoli saw off Trabzonspor 1-0 to get to the round of 16 and that means they are 10 games unbeaten in Europe and I can’t see that changing here. Their opponents have had a good season, but sit 9 points behind leaders Zenit in the Russian Premier League and I can see Napoli having too much for them.
