FC Porto v Schalke – FC Porto to win

Having watched the first leg of this particular match, Schalke scored with their only shot of the first half and it was all Porto from then on. The Portuguese side are in a good position to take advantage of the Swiss who have a habit of both scoring and conceding goals. Basel are looking to make it into the quarters for the first time since 1974, but I think Porto will be too strong for the away side. Porto had 2 men sent off in their 1-1 draw with Braga at the weekend but they are unbeaten in the Champions League this season and although Basel are dominating their domestic league, the Portuguese league is considered a more competitive division.

 

Reading v Brighton – Brighton Draw No Bet

Reading have been shocking at the Majeski this season. They haven’t been able to win in front of their home crowd for a while and have lost their last 3 consecutive home games. This includes a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Nottingham Forest and an embarrassing 1-0 defeat to Wigan. They couldn’t get past Bradford at Valley Parade at the weekend and aren’t at their free-flowing best. Brighton haven’t exactly set the world alight either, but under Chris Hughton they have definitely turned a corner. Yeovil v Bristol City – Bristol City win

Bristol City are running away with League One. They are 10 points clear at the moment and have Swindon, MK Dons and Preston trailing in their wake. Steve Cotterill’s mean have plenty of firepower, but they have looked a little susceptible defensively recently. I still don’t think they will be troubled by bottom side Yeovil who have fallen short of expectations are look ripe for a consecutive relegation. Terry Skiverton is in charge and has drafted in a number of loan players, but it looks a little too late for the Somerset side and the Bristolians should have too much for them. With Kieran Agard and Aaron Wilbraham up front, there’s plenty of goals, but they come from all over the team as goals from Aden Flint and Luke Ayling demonstrated on Tuesday. 10 points should become 13 by the end of Tuesday night.

 

Macclesfield v Telford – Macclesfield to win

This one seems a little obvious when you look at league positions, but I was impressed with Macclesfield’s home form, they have won 3 of the last 5. They have only conceded 11 goals in their 18 home games this season and I can’t see the opposition giving them too much trouble. The Cheshire side weren’t able to find a way past Aldershot last time out, but they have conceded 37 goals away from home. The Macc should be too good with their 2nd best recent home record in the division.

 

Kidderminster v Eastleigh – Eastleigh to win

An away win to finish off the accumulator at Kidderminster. The home side haven’t won any of their last 5 at Aggborough. The Worcestershire side have been struggling of late and in-form Eastleigh can take advantage. They were the big spenders pre-season and were many peoples outsiders for promotion. The Hampshire side haven’t quite lived up to those expectation, but are putting a superb run together of late and should have too much here. They beat Bristol Rovers away last time on their travels and the Gas are so often unbeatable at home. They also claimed victories at Southport and Chester earlier. They are in form and should win again.
