Belgium – 8/11 to win Group H with Sky Bet.

I think everyone has jumped on the Belgium bandwagon over the past 12 months or so, as a talented bunch of individuals qualified for the World Cup from a tricky group. They qualified in impressive fashion, breaking a national record by winning seven consecutive qualifying games on route to an unbeaten campaign. They have a host of stars who will be familiar to fans of the Premier League, such as Vincent Kompany, Eden Hazard, Marouane Fellaini and Romelu Lukaku. I do however think they are being overrated in the World Cup outright betting market, they are currently 5th favourites, ahead of the likes of France, Italy, Netherlands, Colombia and Chile. They are coached by former player, Marc Wilmots, who will be confident of topping a relatively weak group before sterner tests await in the knockout stages.

Russia – 12/5 to win Group H with Ladbrokes.

Coached by the hugely experienced Fabio Capello, Russia qualified above Portugal to book their place in Brazil. Not surprisingly, given their coach, they based it on an tight, organised defence, they only conceded 5 times in 10 qualifying games. They have a squad largely based in the Russian league and brimming with experience with the likes of Berezeutskiy and Ignashevich marshalling the defence. They do look to lack a quality striker though, still relying on the workmanlike Kerzhakov in the forward role and having the likes of Pavel Pogrebnyak in the squad. Russia will be disciplined with sprinkles of attacking flair but would most likely take 2nd place in the group now, if offered.

South Korea – 8/1 to win Group H with Winner.

Do not expect any miracles from South Korea this time round, unlike their amazing run to the 2002 World Cup semi-finals under Guus Hiddink. They laboured in qualifying where they scraped through on goal difference, just edging out Uzbekistan and finishing behind Iran. This prompted their coach to quit at the end of the campaign and replaced by one of the heroes from 2002, Hong Myung-Bo. He should have the respect of the players as he looks to install some confidence and belief they can at least make it out of the group. This is despite their record of being eliminated at the group stages in 6 of 8 tournaments. Their star player is Son Heung-Min who currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. I feel they will be tough to beat, extremely hard working, but I make them value to finish bottom of this group in my World Cup bet predictions.

Algeria – 28/1 with Group H with Bet365.

The brilliantly nicknamed Desert Foxes qualified for the World Cup after beating Burkina Faso via the away goals rule in a play-off, in the group stage they had won 5 of 6 games. They are coached by the vastly experienced Vahid Halilhodzic, who has managed in France, Morocco, Croatia and Turkey. They qualified for the last World Cup and didn't disgrace themselves, losing two games 1-0 and managing a draw with England. They boast a couple of names, the casual football fan will be familiar with, the likes of Majid Bougherra, Nabil Bentaleb (Spurs), Hassan Yebda (Udinese) and most notably, Sofiane Feghouli, who is currently at Valencia. The fact that they are priced at 28/1 just to win the group says a lot, but I’m not so sure that they can't finish above South Korea. They face Belgium in their opening game and if they could possibly catch them cold, they might dream of progressing further.
