Despite spending several vast sums of cash over the course of the previous summer transfer window – and subsequently handing Manuel Pellegrini arguably the most star-studded set of players the Premier League era has ever had the pleasure of paying witness to – Manchester City have ultimately proven somewhat of a disappointment across the 2015/16 domestic campaign thus far.
A handful of the club’s most high profile players have certainly failed to give a full account of their supposed abilities within the English top-flight this term, Pellegrini himself has often looked void of ideas down in the Etihad dug-out – and although the Citizens have admittedly improved among the Champions League in 2015/16 – Manchester City nonetheless risk dropping out of the Premier League’s top-four right in the here and now.
So then, as the incoming Pep Guardiola clearly has a great deal of work to carry out before the 2016/17 season finally gets underway, just who will the 45-year-old Spanish tactician look to include among his all important summer shopping list at the end of the current campaign?
Well, although some football fans have seemingly taken on a rather realistic approach when analysing who Manchester City should look to bring in over the coming summer months…
Guardiola should sign Koulibaly for City tbh. He's much better than Otamendi and Mangala.

…other Citizens supporters are nonetheless thinking bigger than some of their fellow counterparts this term…
Guardiola should sign, Javier Martinez, Verrati, Pogba, Sane, Muller, Stones, Reus, Alaba = Winners! #mcfc #Guardiola

Some are looking towards the recent success down at Leicester City as a cue for Guardiola’s upcoming summer spending plans however…
Guardiola should actually sign Mahrez first and ship off Sterling. Or Navas.

…whilst the Spaniard’s current ranks at Bayern Munich have also drawn a great deal of speculation of late…
#Guardiola should try sign David Alaba! #Mcfc #Alaba

Several non-supporting Manchester City fans remain somewhat concerned ahead of Guardiola’s highly anticipated introduction among the English game next season…
Needless to say Guardiola will bring in some gems too & turn them into stars. Coman prime example at Bayern. Laporte already being lined up
— Optimistic Gooner (@OptimistGooner_) 27 February 2016
…and if any of these recent transfer rumours are to be believed, the future looks to be a rather promising place for all the determined City supporters out there…
Gundogan apparently will sign for man city.. Something a city fan should be very excited about #classact #Gundogan #ManchesterCity
— Cameron Murray (@cam_67_) 19 February 2016
Kelechi, Aguero and Vardy would make a tremendous attacking force next season… Man City should sign Vardy
— Ray (@RaymondGamukama) 3 February 2016
messi facts:
he's gonna sign new barca deal
he's told mcfc he would join them
i think he'll go mcfc while guardiola is there

In the end, Pep Guardiola isn’t guaranteed to bring immediate success at the Etihad by any relevant stretch of the imagination, but once the notorious Spaniard has finally settled down among the Premier League next term, Manchester City will easily represent a strong bet the win the league outright when all is said and done!
