Tottenham vs Atletico Madrid betting prediction and preview for the clash in the International Champions Cup this weekend.
Fixture: Tottenham vs Atletico Madrid
Competition: International Champions Cup
Kick-off time: 11am Friday 29th July 2016
Spurs take on Champions League runners up Atletico Madrid in their second game of the International Champions Cup in Australia on Friday at 11am. This is Atletico’s first game in the tournament, but their second pre-season match as they beaten Numancia 2-0 last Saturday.
Tottenham
Spurs lost their first game of this tournament to Juventus 2-1 however they played an almost entirely different team in the second half to the first, whilst giving run outs for many of their youth players. Spurs don’t have many friendlies arranged for their pre-season which has worried some fans, especially when you had the long haul trip to Australia in the mix. Atletico are only at the beginning of their fitness regime as the La Liga season kicks off a week after the 2016/17 Premier League season does.
Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid and manager Diego Simeone will be looking to take the next step in the coming season and take some silverware back to the Calderon. They were unlucky last season after a fantastic Champions League campaign and I’m particularly impressed with the acquisitions of Nico Gaitan from Benfica, and very excited about the signing of Diogo Jota from Pacos Ferreira. He’s a young, quick and intelligent winger who I can imagine will link up with Antoine Griezmann very well indeed so keep an eye out for him.
Tottenham vs Atletico Madrid Predictions
My first football prediction for Spurs vs Atletico Madrid is a draw. I’ve got a feeling both of these sides are going to take it fairly easy in the game, this is mainly about getting minutes under the belts for the majority of the squads, and I think both teams may start with strong teams but make many changes during the game, this can disrupt the flow of the match itself so for this reason my first betting tip for this match is going to be a draw. The odds for the draw are 13/5 with Bet365 which I believe is much better value than the Atleti win. Don’t be surprised to see a drab affair with few if any goals.

My second Tottenham v Atletico Madrid prediction for this match is going to be Under 2.5 Match Goals. Atletico Madrid are well renowned for having one of the tightest defences in the world, they give very little away in terms of chances, and whilst Spurs tend to be involved in matches a little more end to end than their opponents, lack of space is going to be an issue in behind defences and I can’t see many clear cut chances being created. Take the 11/13 odds with Ladbrokes for under 2.5 goals to be scored in the match.

My final football tip for Spurs vs Atletico in the International Champions Cup is going to be a correct score for half time of 0-0. As I’ve stated it’s going to be potentially a dry game and William Hill are offering 2/1 for the 0-0 correct score. I’m definitely not building this up to be an exciting game but you never know I may be proved wrong.
