Barcelona vs Celtic Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

The Aviva Stadium in Dublin will be the neutral ground choice for Barcelona vs Celtic in the International Champions Cup scheduled for a 6pm kick off, see our predictions and betting tips below.

Fixture: Barcelona vs Celtic

Competition: International Champions Cup

Kick-off time: 6pm Saturday 30th July

Barcelona

Barcelona haven’t played a game since the Copa Del Rey win over Sevilla back in May and it will be interesting to see what players travel over to Ireland with the squad for the game this weekend. They are booked in for three games in this pre-season tournament and it’s confirmed that Messi and Suarez definitely travelled, but will the manager give the youngsters an opportunity?

Celtic

Celtic have plenty of football under their belts with plenty of club friendlies and the two run outs against Lincoln Red Imps from Gibraltar. Their latest result was a defeat on penalties to English champions Leicester City but this should definitely be another step up in class for the hoops.

Barcelona vs Celtic Predictions

Barcelona will be keen to get back out on the field and get in some preparation before the European Super Cup against Sevilla in a few weeks. Although it’s not certain they will field their strongest 11, I think it will definitely be strong enough to beat Celtic. Another reason I think this is because of Celtic’s Champions League qualifier against Astana in the week, will they really want to risk any injuries?

My first football prediction for Barcelona vs Celtic is going to be Barcelona to win -1 handicap. The handicap offers much better value as the win alone is only 1/3. The -1 handicap offers much better odds of Evens with Paddy Power and is realistically still a likely bet.

Munir El Haddadi doesn’t start every La Liga game but when he gets an opportunity he definitely does a job for Barca. The 20-year-old scored a handful of goals in not many appearances last season and still at such a young age, surely has much more to offer. I think there is a good chance he be in the Barcelona starting XI against Celtic with Suarez having a much shorter run out.

My anytime goalscorer betting tip for Barcelona vs Celtic is going to be El Haddadi to get on the scoresheet. Anytime is the safer bet compared to a first goalscorer tip as it’s impossible to predict the starting 11 in a friendly. The best odds for this are currently 6/4 with Coral.

Although I am confident of a Barcelona win against Celtic, I don’t think it will be a trashing due to this being Barca’s first game back and it being Celtic’s ninth since the end of June! They should definitely have a bit more sharpness and fitter players but does that really matter too much when you’re playing Barcelona? It’s a completely different game when you’re not going to see much possession of the ball.

My third Barcelona vs Celtic football tip this weekend is going to be Barca to win and under 3.5 goals. I think a 2-0 scoreline will be likely but rather than go with the correct score bet I’ll pick this safer option as Barca may give other younger players an opportunity this weekend. The best odds for this are currently 6/5 with Betfair
