Weekend football predictions and Southampton v Norwich City betting tips for the first Super Sunday game from our football tipster.
The Sunday lunchtime game this weekend sees Southampton welcome Norwich City to St. Mary’s. Norwich will be hoping to keep their current away form going when the face the South coast club, who have struggled so far this season, only picking up two points from a possible nine.
Southampton v Norwich Predictions:
The Canaries will be fresher going into the match, as Southampton travelled to Denmark on Thursday, where they crashed out of the Europe League. They lost 1-0 to FC Midtjylland, crashing out 2-1 on aggregate. Saints’ European exploits will leave them with only two days to prepare for the visit of Norwich and they are still without Frasier Forster who will miss the whole season due to injury.
Saints are also without left-back Ryan Bertrand and after losing Nathaniel Clyne to Liverpool in the summer; they have appeared a shadow of the side they were last season. Victor Wanyama has recently added to the clubs injury woes after he picked up an illness and it has also been reported that Manchester United target Sadio Mane will be left out due to the interest surrounding him.
Norwich will be without Lewis Grabban after the club suspended the striker for refusing to play in the clubs Capital One Cup match against Rotherham. Manager Alex Neil has been boosted by the recent resurgence of frontman Ricky van Wolfswinkel but it still on the hunt for attacking options. The club are rumoured to have had a £10m bid for Wolves striker Benik Afobe rejected.
The two sides are also battling off the pitch as it has been reported that the Canaries have made a bid in the region of £8.8m for Saints target Kalidou Koulibaly. The 24-year-old currently plies his trade for Napoli and has been on Southampton’s radar as an alternative for long-term transfer target Virgil van Dijk.
Saints have been after a central defender for a while after losing out on Toby Alderweireld, who joined Spurs. The Belgian defender spent last season on loan at St. Mary’s but opted for a move to the capital.
Saints, though, are now in pole position to sign Celtic’s van Dijk, also 24, after the Scottish club failed to qualify for this seasons UEFA Champions League group stage after losing to Malmö. The Dutch centre back stated after his teams defeat that it could be potentially his final game for the Hoops.
The first Southampton v Norwich prediction is Nathan Redmond to score anytime at 9/2 with Paddy Power.

The tricky winger has been in fine form lately having a hand in ten goals in his last eight games, scoring five goals and getting five assists. Expect him to cause Southampton problems all game long and no doubt be involved in the goals.
Looking at a first goalscorer tip, Graziano Pelle to be the first goal scorer is my selection. The Italian has scored 11 of his 13 league goals for the South coast club at St. Mary’s; seemingly he enjoys playing in front of his own fans.
My Southampton v Norwich prediction for a first goalscorer is Pelle at the best odds of 9/2 with Bet365.

Norwich have begun to play well since their opening day defeat to Crystal Palace and well certainly be no pushovers. A score draw is the predicted outcome for this match with a late goal from Cameron Jerome.
