Republic of Ireland vs Switzerland predictions and football betting tips for this Good Friday international friendly as both sides prepare for Euro 2016.
Republic of Ireland host Switzerland on Friday evening in an International friendly in preparation for Euro 2016 in France and our tipster has picked their best bets.
Republic of Ireland vs Switzerland Predictions
Martin O’Neill has much more strength in depth in his Ireland squad when you compare it to previous years, and he’s going to need it as his side have been placed in the group of death in Euro 2016. Italy, Belgium and Sweden are their opposition in Group E of Euro 2016 and many people aren’t giving them a chance to get themselves out of the group, however Ireland will be quietly confident of making a few upsets as, after all they did manage to take four points from Germany in their qualification group.
Ireland will be hoping to notch some good results under their belts in preparation for their tough and exciting summer ahead.
Switzerland managed to get through their qualification group relatively comfortably. They finished 2nd, some distance behind England. Their last couple of friendlies in November they lost away to Slovakia 3-2 and rather impressively despatched Austria away from home 2-1. They’ll be looking to build some confidence and rhythm in their upcoming friendlies as they will feel they have a good chance of getting out of their Euro 2016 group. They’re in Group A with France, Romania and Albania at Euro 2016 so they will be expecting to finish 2nd in that group. Defensively and attacking wise they look very good, with young talented footballers coming through, they their midfield seems their weak point, as apart from Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri, they do look slightly weak.
My first Republic of Ireland vs Switzerland prediction for this match is both teams to score. Friendlies can usually be fairly pointless affairs, but given the circumstances, neither team can afford to waste the limited time they have left before the European Championships begin in the summer. They’ll be playing as full strength as possible, with maybe a couple of younger players thrown in to see how they perform. I can easily see both teams scoring. William Hill are offering 21/20 for both teams to score.

My second Republic of Ireland betting tip is for the match is a draw. I do believe these teams are fairly matched, they both aren’t going to challenge in the latter stages of the Euro’s, but both teams have enough stars to provide bigger teams with worry. They’ll both fancy their chances against each other so 21/10 at bet365 for a draw is a tempting result as I don’t trust either team enough to move from the fence.
My final football prediction for Republic of Ireland vs Switzerland is an anytime goalscorer tip. It’s going to be Breel Embolo. Embolo plays for FC Basel and is setting the Swiss league alight. He burst onto the Champions League scene and the next day was attending school. He will be at a top European club sooner rather than later, and he could be a surprise asset for the Swiss team by utilising his pace and power. He is 11/4 with Paddy Power to score anytime.
