Norway v Hungary predictions and betting tips for tonight’s Euro 2016 qualifying match and the best odds for tonight’s three football tips.
The final International break of the year sees the return of the dreaded Euro 2016 play-offs to decide the last remaining countries to go through to the European Championships in France next year. Hungary face a daunting trip to Norway in the first leg of their play off, and we have three great football betting tips for the game.
Norway v Hungary Predictions & Preview
Norway narrowly missed out on qualification thanks to two late goals from Italy in the final game in the group. The Scandinavians managed to take the lead through Norwich City midfielder Alexander Tettey, but Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi and Southampton’s Graziano Pelle scored for the Italians within 10 minute of each other deep into the second half to consign Per-Mathias Hogmo’s men to the play offs.
Despite defeat in Italy, Norway’s Euro 2016 qualifying record has generally been impressive, particularly at home. The Drillos finished on 19 points, just one behind the Azzuri, but with a significantly inferior goal difference of +3, compared to Italy’s +15.
Hogmo’s side come into the match with three wins from their last four qualifiers, and given their impressive home record, you’d have to fancy them to be the favourites for the game. However, their opponents have a track record for resilience.
Hungary were comfortably beaten to the automatic qualifying spots in Group F thanks to strong campaigns from Northern Ireland and Romania. Bernd Storck saw his side win just four of their 10 group matches, but they showed a good durability and were only defeated twice; at home to Northern Ireland in their opener, and away to bottom side Greece in the final group game.
Hungary amassed 16 points, but conceded on average just over a goal a game. Their scoring record wasn’t particularly impressive either, notching just 11 from 10 qualifiers.
Nowary Team News – Norway are missing Adama Diomande through injury whilst the manager has surprisingly decided to leave Joshua King and Jonas Svensson out of the squad entirely.
Hungary Team News – Hungary recall Adam Szalai and Zolan Steiber to the squad following injuries, and the manager looks to have a near full squad to choose from for the crucial qualifier at the Ullevaal Stadion.
Over two legs the teams look pretty evenly matched. Hungary showed good resilience and a fighting spirit that saw them take a point in many of their qualifiers when defeat seemed likely.
Neither team are particularly impressive going forward, and taking into account the pressure of the situation and the need for both teams to keep things tight at the back, this match has all the hallmarks of an extremely cagey affair.
It almost certainly won’t be a high scorer, and my first Norway v Hungary prediction for tonight is for there to be under 1.5 goals. Odds of 7/4 can be found with Paddy Power.

Taking Hungary’s record of drawing matches, I fully expect them to start the match with an extremely defensive outlook and I simply cannot see anything between the two teams.
My second prediction for Norway v Hungary’s Euro 2016 qualifying match is for the game to finish as a draw. The best odds for the draw tonight are 12/5 with Bet365.

With a low scoring game extremely likely, and a draw as the most likely outcome, I am not particularly hopeful of being entertained on Wednesday evening. I feel we may be treated to a dismal bore draw.
My final Norway v Hungary betting tip is for the match to end 0-0. As always, bet on ‘no goalscorer’ rather than 0-0 so if the match is decided by an own goal your bet will still win. Odds of 7/1 can be found with William Hill.
