Must Liverpool fans ready their goodbyes for this former Reds favourite?

It’s certainly fair to say that Mamadou Sakho has experienced something of a topsy-turvy spell in-front of the Anfield faithful, ever since first joining up with the English Premier League in the summer of 2013.

Big things were expected of the highly coveted Frenchman when he first stepped out onto the pitch in Liverpool colours – and barring a few poorly timed errors and costly performances from a purely defensive point of view – the notorious Reds fans initially took to Sakho for his workman-like displays and unmistakable sense of passion.

Yet since encountering a series of confusing and unhelpful off-field incidents in recent months however, subsequently incurring the displeasure of Liverpool’s widely admired German boss in the process – it now looks as if Mamadou Sakho is destined to leave Anfield with the January transfer window soon upon us.

When playing to the very best of his abilities, Sakho is arguably capable of giving any top-flight striker a serious run for their money. The former PSG centre-back is undoubtedly strong, he is able to dominate certain opposition amongst physical aerial battles – and via his impressive communication skills all across the park – even carves himself out as a decent captain for any top-flight contenders to consider.

He seems widely admired among the current Liverpool ranks for his passionate personality – but as it takes a lot more than just good old fashioned hard-work to truly make it among the English top-flight these days – Sakho has seemingly been deemed surplus to requirements down at Anfield this winter, especially in light of his recent off-field incidents.

Jurgen Klopp is failing to issue the former French international with the chance many believe he fully deserves. In response to such an outcome, it remains particularly hard to imagine Mamadou Sakho completely re-establishing himself in front of the Reds faithful – no matter how much some Liverpool fans would love to welcome him back among their first-team ranks.

So then, will Sakho eventually part ways with his current employers this January – either on a permanent basis, or simply on loan? The likely answer seems to be, yes.

With both West Brom and West Ham United reportedly in the hunt for the Frenchman’s once valuable signature this winter, it seems Sakho’s days on Merseyside are already coming to a rather unceremonious end in the eyes of many.
