When it comes to hitting the ground running among the often testing English top-flight, West Ham United’s latest summer recruits have certainly failed to impress for the most part this season. In the eyes of many, the Hammers hierarchy actually served to worsen their overall squad throughout the previous summer transfer window, as opposed to definitively improving Slaven Bilic’s first-team options.
From an overweight Gokhan Tore and a substandard Simone Zaza, to a vastly inexperienced Jonathan Calleri and a past-it Alvaro Arbeloa – West Ham ultimately embarked upon one too many costly gambles this summer, subsequently paving the way for an extremely poor start to the 2016/17 Premier League campaign.
One recent summer recruit however, is seemingly beginning to experience some renewed fortunes down at West Ham despite an admittedly disappointing start to life among the English game…
Pleased for Nordtveit. Had a pukka game at right back. Answered a lot of critics. Thought he was in trouble with Montero, prevailed well.

Håvard Nordtveit served to impress last time out against Swansea City…
Admit it, Nordtveit is faster than you thought! ???

…and many Hammers fans have subsequently reacted accordingly…
Nordtveit was solid today. Very good performance.

Perhaps the Norwegian international can now push on down in the East-End of London…
Nordtveit very good today – much better performance but really don't think we're at our best yet. The best is yet to come

…even if he hasn’t quite turned into a world class asset suddenly overnight…
Nordtveit had an ok game, stop with the amazing performance tweets ffs. Reid MOTM Randy close second. Irons!

Many West Ham fans remain pleasantly surprised with Nordtveit’s recent performances…
As much as i've criticised him before, Nordtveit was my MOTM today. Had a brilliant game at RB. Was great to have our 4 at the back again!

…and if the former Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder can keep impressing the Hammers supporters this season…
If #Nordtveit keeps playing like he did today, I'd be happy for him to stay as our Right-Back. ?⚒⚒⚒ #WHUFC #COYI

…maybe Håvard Nordtveit can truly prove himself in West Ham colours after all!
I knew nordtveit was a decent player but our idiotic fans jumped on he's back after one game , watched him in pre season was good too
