Liverpool lost their opening clash of the International Champions Cup in midweek, going down 1-0 to Chelsea. The Reds were unable to make a breakthrough, even after their opponents went down to 10 men. It wasn’t what Jurgen Klopp was hoping for, but he still has a few stars to introduce in to his side. He’ll be hoping for better in their second game in the competition, which is their sixth pre-season clash. The Reds have yet to field anything close to their strongest side yet, but we should see a few more stars lining up here.

Milan’s first ICC match was a completely different story, as they had a thrilling game against Bayern Munich. That match finished 3-3 at the end of 90 minutes, with a penalty shoot-out following. Milan won and claimed a bonus point, getting one over their former coach Carlo Ancelotti. They were denied a win by a 90^th minute penalty for Bayern, but they’ll still be happy with the result. Coming away from this game with three goals to show for themselves is a huge positive. While the German champions were poor at the back, the first two goals were very good finishes.

Milan will be incredibly confident following their meeting with Bayern Munich in midweek. It’s hard to blame them, especially when you look at this Liverpool team. They had their first real test against Chelsea and they came up short. They didn’t even make it to the 10 minute mark before they conceded from a set piece. Given how Milan took their chances against Bayern, we are predicting a few goals for the Serie A side here. Vincenzo Montella’s side are priced at 6/4 with Ladbrokes to score over 1.5 goalsand that’s my first weekend football prediction for Liverpool vs AC Milan. Given their solid preseason so far, we can see them getting at least two here against Klopp’s men.

It’s not all good for Milan, as they should have worries over their defence. There were a few questionable mistakes at the back against Bayern, so Liverpool should fancy themselves to score. They may have struggled against Antonio Conte’s Chelsea, but they should have a stronger squad to pick from here despite Sakho being sent home by Jurgen Klopp. Milan have come out on top in two friendlies now despite their poor defending, and we’re backing that to happen again for my second Liverpool vs AC Milan prediction.
