Cardiff City vs Watford
After suffering only their second defeat of the season at the weekend, the Bluebirds welcome Watford to the Cardiff City Stadium in the hope of returning to winning ways. Malky Mackay’s side have only failed to score in one of their league games so far and have netted an impressive eleven times in their five home games this season. Now sitting second in the Championship, Cardiff will be determined to maintain their 100% winning record at home, so expect an attacking performance in what have proven to be an explosive fixture in previous years.
Watford find themselves in an unlucky thirteenth position in the Championship after grabbing an injury time winner against Peterborough on Saturday. This season the Hornets have claimed nine of their sixteen points on the road and have found the back of the net ten times in their five games away from Vicarage Road. The two teams have met twelve times in the League since 2005 with only one clean sheet being kept in that period and ten of those twelve games contained three goals or more.
Middlesbrough vs Hull City
Sneaking a single goal victory over Brighton at the weekend leaves Middlesbrough sitting in seventh position in the Championship and on a run of three games unbeaten. Tony Mowbray’s side have proven to be very impressive in front of goal this season, scoring in all but one of their league encounters and bagging a total of ten goals in their five home games so far. It is also worth noting that almost 74% of Boro’s games this season have contained three or more goals and they have conceded in four out of their five home games.
Sitting one place above Middlesbrough in the Championship is Hull City, who are looking for a return to the top flight after relegation in 2010. The Tigers form has been rather inconsistent so far with Steve Bruce’s side suffering four defeats this season and conceding a total of fifteen goals. Never-the-less, Hull have found the back of the net in their last eight games including notching up impressive wins against Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday. Only one clean sheet has been kept in the last six encounters between the two sides and five of those games have contained three or more goals.
Notts County vs Bournemouth
High-flying Notts County are currently on a fourteen game unbeaten run away from home and they will undoubtedly be looking to transfer that form to their home fixture against Bournemouth this weekend. Keith Curle’s side have only failed to score twice in their thirteen games this season and have scored a total of twenty-three goals so far, the second most in League One behind top of the table Tranmere. Despite scoring goals, County have also been conceding goals at home, with an average of a goal a game finding the back of the Magpies net since the start of the season.
Despite convincing wins in their last two games against Leyton Orient and top of the table Tranmere Rovers, Bournemouth find themselves sitting in a lowly eighteenth position in League One. Scoring goals has not been the problem for the Cherries, with Eddie Howe’s side bagging a total of seventeen goals and only failing to score on two occasions this season. The number twenty-two in the goals against column is the main issue, with Bournemouth conceding fourteen of those goals away from home. There has only been one clean sheet in the last seven encounters between the two sides with six of those games containing three or more goals.
Dagenham and Redbridge vs Exeter City
Dagenham’s run of five games unbeaten came to a heartbreaking end on Saturday after suffering a 3-2 defeat to York, leaving the Daggers in nineteenth position in League Two. Despite their position, Dagenham have managed to score nineteen goals in their thirteen games so far this season and have only failed to score in three of those games. John Still will be hoping that his side can regain the form that saw his side claim impressive victories against Wycombe, Bradford and Chesterfield in recent weeks.
Despite suffering five defeats in their last six games, Exeter City still sit in seventh place after thirteen games. The Grecians have managed to score a total of twenty goals this season, the fifth highest total in League Two but Paul Tisdale’s side have also proven to be lacklustre at the back conceding as many goals as they have scored. There has not been a single clean sheet kept in the last four encounters between the two sides.
