Football Tips: Both Teams to Score 4-fold

West Ham v Arsenal

As previously stated, our opening choice comes from the English top flight and the London derby between West Ham and Arsenal. The Hammers head into this one unbeaten in their last six and with the Champions league places well within their sights. Slaven Bilic’s side have seen scores of 2-3, 2-2 and 2-2 in their last three matches and also have the joint highest ratio for BTTS results in the Premier League, so this already looks a great contender to get the ball rolling in our 4 fold. Opponents Arsenal head into the clash looking to avenge their 2-0 loss to West Ham at home on the first day of the season. The Gunners are in a strange position whereby they are almost certainly not going to win the league, but equally unlikely to fall out of the top four as well. Nevertheless, Arsene Wenger’s men have scored twice in their last four away games on the bounce, so we should surely be in for at least a couple goals on Saturday lunchtime.

Fulham v Cardiff

Our second selection for the both teams to score tip is from The Championship as Fulham host Cardiff and Craven Cottage. Both of these sides are after the points for entirely different reasons, but The Cottagers back to back wins over the last week have certainly given themselves some breathing space over the relegation zone. Fulham are an extremely unpredictable side results wise – which is largely due to the fact they are fantastic going forward, whilst defending like your average pub team at the back. However, this makes the West Londoners an absolute gem in the BTTS market and they currently have a 75% ratio for all their matches finishing via this outcome. To put this in perspective, the next closest team to them in The Championship is Brentford on 59%. Nevertheless, it takes two to tango and Cardiff aren’t exactly my preferred partner of choice. Although the Welsh side have a decent BTTS record over the course of the season, there are a splattering of 0-0s as well which definitely sets some alarm bells ringing. Based on the facts that the corresponding match earlier in the season finished 1-1 and Fulham’s outstanding BTTS record, though, I’m going to plumb for this one as my second choice.

Wigan v Coventry

The third tick on the BTTS coupon features new League One leaders Wigan as they host Coventry at the DW. The Latics are one of the most in-form sides in the football league at present following a fantastic 19 match unbeaten run that has seen them usurp Burton at the top of the table. Wigan have absolutely plundered the goals in recent months as well and this has also seen them shoot to the top of the goalscoring charts. Opponents Coventry started the season in great form, but since the turn of the year have totally flushed any chance of promotion right down the toilet. Although The Sky Blues aren’t playing particularly well at the moment, they have recorded some huge wins over the course of the season which certainly leads me to believe they are capable of finding a way onto the scoresheet. This is definitely the riskiest pick on paper for our bet, but an early goal would certainly settle some nerves. Considering these sides have managed 20 goals between them in the first 15 minutes, though, I’m willing to take a chance on this match finishing with a BTTS outcome.

Morecambe v Hartlepool

The anchor leg of this Saturday’s football tip is a League Two affair between Morecambe and Hartlepool at the Globe Arena. Both of these sides have picked up important wins over the last few weeks to stave off any lingering relegation fears. Nonetheless, the hosts head into the clash in pretty poor form and even managed to lose away at Dagenham in midweek to hand the London side only their second home win of the season. However, similarly to Fulham earlier in the article, The Shrimps have a terrific BTTS ratio of 70% over the course of the campaign which is largely due to their heavily contrasting attacking and defensive records. Of their last ten home matches, nine have finished BTTS which is more than enough to convince me to add this game to the accumulator. Opponents Hartlepool head to town in their best form of the season and have only lost one of their last eight. Although there have been a couple of 0-0s along the way, they have manged to score twice and three times away at Leyton Orient and Barnet over the last month, so I would be very surprised if they cannot find a way past the second worst defence in League Two.
