We’ve got two betting tips for Group D at Euro 2016 – this group includes holders Spain and it looks like a race for second between Croatia, Turkey and Czech Republic.
Group D contains a number of exciting teams and all four will fight to the end to make sure they process further than just the group stages. Our Euro 2016 tipster has picked two betting tips that hold some value when considering your own Euro 2016 predictions.
Euro 2016 Group D
- Spain
- Croatia
- Turkey
- Czech Republic
Spain
Before a ball is even kicked in this competition Spain are major favourites to top this group and progress to the next stage. They are aiming to be the first team to ever win the competition three times on the run, no one expected them to be as bad as they were in the 2014 World Cup especially after the humiliating 5-1 defeat. Whether that is a sign of things to come or just a hiccup we will soon found out. However, Spain have unbelievable depth in their squad still and some of the world’s best players among their ranks I would suggest you do not write them off as they do remain among the favourites to win Euro 2016.
There are some surprised in the Spain Euro 2016 squad.
Croatia
Croatia are the team I would probably expect to finish behind Spain in this group, they have some quality players in their side, they boast some of Europe's elite midfielders with the likes of Modric and Rakatic, a player who features in our Euro 2016 three players to watch, and these two players combined can easily cut apart any team. Don't forget the likes of Fiorentina’s Kalinic and of course Mario Mandzukic and once again these are the types of players who can turn a game in an instant. They have had quite a peculiar qualifying run up, their own fans got their game against Italy suspended in which they were definitely dominating, not to mention the docking of points they received for an offensive symbol that was cut into the grass. They can go far in the European Championships this summer but they will want to put the last few months behind them.
Turkey
Turkey haven't graced this competition since back in 2008, however they managed to reach the semifinals stage and I am most definitely hoping of another repeat, just for the love of the underdog. Turkey finished their qualifying in a strong manner and with Fatih Terim back in charge it means we can ask the question are things starting to come together at the right time? Turkey once again possess some world class players, Arda Turan of Barcelona will surely be a key player this summer and with his skill and ability that is understandable. Calhanoglu of Bayer Leverkusen is another player to keep an eye on, he is a free kick specialist and I am sure he will beat a few keepers this summer.

Czech Republic
Czech Republic have been poor of late, they have lost a lot of their top flight players and you can justify why they haven't gone far in any international competition of late, minus the 2004 semifinals. They may of had a good qualifying campaign by finishing top however for them to come anywhere in this group is a big, big ask. The only name they boast of note is Petr Cech but how much can he really do stood in his own 18 yard box for 90 minutes. They no longer boast talents from all the top leagues like they once used too, some may argue the uprising of Dockal may help the team. They will rely of the wing back of Kaderabak to produce some magic up the wing but one again it appears they are relying too much on individuals. Rosicky is now passing 35 and this has got to be his last international tournament, he can’t compete at club level anymore and although he appears to the star man of this team I can’t see him doing much this time around.
Predictions for Group D at Euro 2016
I expect Spain to walk this group and there is plenty of reasons why they should, the squad, the individual players and just the belief of the team and nation should easily pull them through, I do expect them to get over the World Cup disaster and go far here. For the second place spot many expect Croatia to take it although I wouldn't like to call it just yet, Turkey are as good a team and especially with recent form they can take that place from Croatia, this could be a good head to head match to watch as it could decide who goes through. Finally, it goes without saying about the team who is going to finish bottom, with little to boast about I find it a surprise that Czech Republic even made it this far, although I expect them to bow out early with little, if any points to their name.
Euro 2016 Group D Betting Tips
I have mentioned a lot in this Euro 2016 predictions article I think Spain will top this group so I won’t bore you with anymore explanations, what I will give you is the great value being offered. I expected Spain to really short in this market but with them at 4/6 with Paddy Power to win the group is definitely a good value banker.
SPAIN TO WIN GROUP D – 4/6 with Paddy Power.
Secondly, predicting who will finish second in Group D is a toss-up between Croatia and Turkey, many people will pick Croatia over the Turks and honestly that is my first opinion too. It is a rational choice and the bookies are already writing Turkey off. If I wanted another banker I would tip Croatia to finish second at 15/8 and this is the most sensible bet. However, the Euros only comes around every four years and I want to make some profit on it once again, the Turks have some magic hidden up their sleeves and I hope they can surprise everyone as well. I am going to stick my neck on the line here and predict Turkey to finish second in the group at 16/5 with Boylesports.
