Hoffenheim v Schalke
Our opening selection on the BTTS tip this weekend comes to us from the Bundesliga and the clash between Hoffenheim and Schalke at 2:30pm. Both of these sides still have much to play for on Saturday, with the hosts looking to stave off an outside chance of relegation and the visitors trying to sneak into the final Europa League spot. Nevertheless, over the course of the season both teams have accumulated excellent BTTS stats and currently sit second and third in the charts with ratios of 64% and 67% respectively. The German top flight looks like it could be a bit of a gold mine for the BTTS results this weekend, and a lot of the bookies are running scared with several matches labelled at ludicrously short odds. Although this one is also rather feebly priced, the numbers are particularly overwhelming and we should be able to pick up the slack later on in the day.

Tondela v Academica
The second tick on the coupon takes us to the Primeira Liga in Portugal as the league’s bottom two sides Tondela and Academica go head to head at 7:30pm. I have some real beef with the hosts after they crushed my Friday accumulator last week with a shock 4-1 win away at in-form Pacos Ferreira. So the way I see it, they owe me one! In fairness to Tondela, though, they looked dead and buried a couple of months ago, but have finished strongly and even have an outside chance of avoiding relegation. Opponents Academica have had no such luck and were deservedly relegated after a dreadful season and have not won in their last eight games. However, the visitors can take some solace in the fact they have the best record in the league for BTTS results, and although they played out a total stinker with Braga last week, their previous five results all saw a BTTS outcome, as well as the corresponding fixture with Tondela finishing 2-1 earlier in the campaign.
Lorient v Ajaccio
The penultimate choice is a French affair in Ligue 1 as Lorient host Ajaccio at 8:00pm. The hosts have had a fairly underwhelming season but did just enough to avoid being sucked into a relegation fight after picking up a number of important wins against other teams from the bottom half of the table. From a BTTS perspective, though, Lorient have been a safe pair of hands this year and currently hold the joint best strike-rate in the division with Marseille at 65%. For visitors Ajaccio this match is of huge significance as they need to better Toulouse’s result in order to avoid the drop to Ligue 2. Similarly to their opponents, though, they are not in good form but have churned out some solid BTTS runs over the course of the season. Although they lost 4-0 to PSG last time out, their previous three results finished 2-4, 3-2 and 1-2 which certainly suggests they can find a way on to the scoresheet in this one.

Columbus Crew v Colorado Rapids
We’re rounding things off in the MLS at midnight and hoping that the clash between Columbus and Colorado doesn’t send us to sleep with the hump! Although the season is only a matter of weeks old, the MLS was generally an excellent source for BTTS results last year and the recent stats between these two sides certainly look encouraging. Of the hosts’ four home games already this season, three have seen a BTTS outcome and turned up scores of 2-1, 3-2 and 4-4. In addition to this, three of Colorado’s last four away games have also finished with both teams finding the net and scores of 2-2, 2-1 and 1-1. With these facts in mind, back this match to bring home the bacon this Sunday morning.
