The problem with Palace is that they seem to struggle to score and further more they lack a natural goal scorer, as I do not believe Chamakh is that sort of striker. But against this Fulham side they will get opportunities, especially from set pieces, I just can’t predict who will take one. Martin Jol’s future at Fulham has been questioned as of late and many believe the win against Stoke saved his job. It appeared Gus Poyet was hedging his bets at one point and was heavily linked to succeeding the Dutch manager. However, Jol got the win and you could see just how much it meant to him by the reaction after the final whistle. If the players are behind their manager the results usually start to follow and with that win a fortnight ago I believe the confidence will start to come back into this side. With players like Taarabt, Ruiz and Berbatov their creative flair much depends on confidence and how much they want it.

With Jol’s job still under pressure, a game like this is where you can tell where the players preferences lie. The trouble with Palace though, is that no matter how much passion they show I do not believe they have a good enough squad to get the sufficient points required to stay up in the top flight. While many teams have strengthened, Palace seem to have weakened what with the departure of Zaha and the injury to Glenn Murray, the latest on that being a possible return in December, but that could be too late for him to have an impact.
