Everton Team Preview

Everton have 4 points from their opening two games of this season, a 1-1 draw at home to Tottenham and a 1-2 away win at West Brom, the Toffees are a team in transition due to ex-Barcelona legend and former Southampton Manager Ronald Koeman replacing now Belguim Manager Roberto Martinez. The Dutchman is known for playing attractive and expansive football which Martinez looked to set in at Goodison Park, the club lost future England Captain John Stones to Manchester City for nearly £50 million but have spent wisely to replace him with Wales captain Ashley Williams and one of Crystal Palace’s star attacking players in Yannick Bolasie with change from the Stones deal left over. Young Mason Holgate also from Barnsley who can play a centre back or right back has looked to replace the gem status left by Stones, adding to the already very talented Everton team and with the recent news that want-away striker Romelu Lukaku has now withdrawn his transfer request (at least for another season) I predict a strong season for the blue half of Liverpool.

 

Stoke Team Preview

Stoke have 1 point from their opening two games of the season, a 1-1 draw away at Middlesborough and a 1-4 defeat at home to current leaders Manchester City. The Potters have improved dramatically over recent seasons under Mark Hughes, Tony Pulis guaranteed them yearly Premier League survival and laid down the foundation for Mark Hughes to bring in the players to take them to the next level For all their new attacking talent I believe that Xerdan Shaqiri is their key player, a clinical and skilful winger who has won the Champions League with Bayern Munich and that many feel could easily play for teams much better than Stoke, he does however seem committed to proving himself in the Premier League and as he is an injury doubt for this game, I just feel without him Stoke are a different team and will ultimately lose this game. The only notable summer addition to the squad is Joe Allen from Liverpool who on his day can run a game from the centre of midfield and will be a significant boost in Stoke’s ambition to play more attractive football and win more games because of this style.
