Southampton

Southampton had an average start to the season. After losing Ronald Koeman to Everton in the summer they’ve replaced him with Claude Puel, the ex-Nice manager and he has a tricky job on his hands. He’s lost Victor Wanyama and Sadio Mane already and could be set to lose more, and it was already going to be hard enough to try and emulate the previous achievements Koeman had garnered with Saints. They drew 1-1 at home with Watford and they probably would have earmarked that as a game they could have got three points from. They didn’t lose however, and there will be some confidence going into this match at Old Trafford as they have nothing to lose, although Puel is unhappy with the rumours of Jose Fonte to Manchester United and feels this is a blatant attempt at turning the players’ head just before their clash.

My first Manchester United vs Southampton betting tip is going to be Manchester United halftime/fulltime. I think they’ll be very different than they were under Van Gaal were almost all their games were 0-0 by half time at home. My second Premier League prediction for this game is going to be Manchester United win to nil. They seem much stronger defensively this season, as Eric Bailly provides the commanding centre half they’ve missed, having Luke Shaw back is a massive bonus too as he adds a genuine left footed left back as well as a bigger contribution going forward. My final Manchester United vs Southampton prediction for tonight is going to be Zlatan Ibrahimovic to score first, it was a toss-up between the anytime goalscorer and first goalscorer in the betting odds. He’s scored in both competitive games for his club and I see no reason why he couldn’t do it again.
