PSV v AZ Alkmaar
We’re only a game into the season in the Dutch top flight, but if last week’s results are anything to go by, this could be one of the go-to leagues for BTTS yet again. Out of the nine fixtures last weekend, only two games blanked in the BTTS market and every game had two or more goals scored. Heading into Sunday’s match and PSV will be looking to build on their opening victory last time out as they take on a particularly entertaining AZ Alkmaar side. Both of these teams finished last season with impressive BTTS strike-rates of 59% and 65% respectively, as well as playing out a 4-2 thriller the last time they met. PSV were the highest scorers in the division in the previous campaign and AZ’s last eight league matches in a row have all seen over 2.5 goals and a BTTS outcome. Surely this one will get us off to a winning start.
Arsenal v Liverpool
Our second choice on the BTTS tip this weekend is arguably the game of the weekend in the Premier League as Arsenal take on Liverpool at The Emirates. Both sides head into the clash with mounting injury concerns, particularly at the back. When you take this into account and also the fact that this is one of the highest scoring fixtures in the history of the Premier League, it certainly bodes well ahead of a potential BTTS result. Arsenal have performed well in pre-season and were unbeaten in their five matches, with four of them seeing both teams find the net. Opponents Liverpool have had far more of a warm-up having played nine matches, winning six of them in the process. However, The Reds did produce a stunning 4-0 victory over a near full-strength Barcelona side last weekend and Arsenal also beat Manchester City 3-1 the following day. With this in mind, I expect there to be a few goals between the two this Sunday.

Barcelona v Sevilla
The penultimate match on the coupon this weekend features the Spanish Super Cup Final between last season’s champions Barcelona and Cup runners-up Sevilla. Both of these two sides played out 2-1 results both home and away last season, and although the Copa Del Rey Final between them finished a disappointing 0-0 after 90 minutes, the nine meetings between the two sides that preceded it all finished with a BTTS outcome and three or more goals. Favourites Barcelona head into the clash off the back of a decent pre-season – if you take the 4-0 hiding to Liverpool out of the equation – but have been conceding a lot of goals. Opponents Sevilla have seen five of their seven friendlies finish with a BTTS result, with their only defeat coming at the hands of Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup in midweek. Based in the results between the two sides over the last few years, this one looks an absolute banker.
Chicago Fire v Orlando City
We’re finishing things off on this weekend football tip in the MLS this Sunday as two of the league’s strugglers Chicago Fire and Orlando City go head to head at 9pm. When you take recent results between the two sides into consideration, I can’t imagine this fixture will throw a spanner into the works should we be in a winning position come Sunday evening. Out of the last six games between the two, five of the results have finished with a BTTS outcome. In addition to this, Chicago’s last three and Orlando’s last five matches have all finished with both teams finding the net. Having picked up a lot of BTTS winners lately in the MLS, I’m fairly confident this match will anchor the four-fold home this weekend.
