EURO 2016 GROUP A PREVIEW: ROMANIA

Euro 2016 Group A Preview and Predictions for Romania

With Euro 2016 seemingly waiting around the corner at this particular stage in our collective footballing calendar, we’ve decided to continue our Group A preview with a closer look at Romania and all Anghel Iordanescu’s side can expect to achieve at the upcoming summer competition.

CHANCES OF SUCCESS

Let’s face it – although the determined Romanian supporters will likely be expecting a rather healthy offering from their nation once Euro 2016 finally comes around – their team’s overall chances of making it past the increasingly perilous group-stages remain pretty limited at best.

Yet should either France or Switzerland – Romania’s two strongest Group A opponents on paper – fail to hit the ground running straight off the bat this summer, then perhaps Iordanescu’s team could in-fact represent a rather shrewd bet to make it into the knock-out stages at Euro 2016 after all. With just a little bit of luck on their side, anything can be achieved.

ONES TO WATCH

The Romanian national team isn’t exactly littered with well-established players left, right and centre – that much seemingly goes without saying. Although the name ‘Razvan Rat’ may ring true for those who still remember the Romanian defender’s brief spell at Upton Park just a handful or short seasons ago, the main men for Romania may ultimately arrive in the form of Raul Rusescu, Ovidiu Hoban and perhaps even former Chelsea and Juventus striker – Adrian Mutu.

FROM THE DUG-OUT

EURO 2016 GROUP A PREVIEW: ROMANIA

Like the rest of his Romanian countrymen at Euro 2016 this summer, head-coach – Anghel Iordanescu – may not be the most revered managerial name currently operating in European football at the moment, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the 65-year-old tactician won’t serve to impress at this summer’s highly anticipated tournament.

Iordanescu has incidentally managed his nation several times before on the international scene of course, which should offer the Romanian boss a welcome dose of much needed experience ahead of Euro 2016 itself.

ROMANIA’S EURO 2016 PREDICTIONS

Romania simply aren’t likely to make it past the ever-competitive group stages in the cold light of day, but if the previous 2014 World Cup has taught us anything about international football in the modern era, then perhaps we shouldn’t be writing off any distinct underdogs before we’ve really had a good look at what every team has to offer at the upcoming competition

Relevant betting tips could therefore see Romania cause one or two major upsets at Euro 2016, but only if circumstances prove favourable for the boys in yellow this summer.
