Tottenham vs Borussia Dortmund betting tips and predictions for tonight’s Europa League fixture and the best odds for each bet.
The Europa League returns tonight with a number of ties finely poised. Unfortunately for Tottenham Hotspur, though, theirs is not one of them. Borussia Dortmund are the visitors to White Hart Lane, tune into BT Sport at 8:05pm and here are our match predictions and betting tips.
Tottenham vs Borussia Dortmund Predictions
We've all had a few days to digest last week's match, and I for one, am still rather perplexed as to why Mauricio Pochetino went with the starting lineup that he did at the Westfalenstadion. I completely understand that Spurs are right in the hunt for the Premier League title – their first for decades – but they were away to Aston Villa that coming weekend, and let's face it, they've been dead and buried for some time now.
Heading into the second leg and Spurs now need three goals un-replied if they are at least able to take the tie to extra time. Obviously and away goal would have come in handy in Germany, but Pochetino should count his lucky stars that the score is just 3-0. Dortmund squandered several more clear-cut chances and could have easily won the match by double that scoreline. Whichever way you look at it, though, Spurs need a miracle on Thursday night.
Odds for the clash have Dortmund trading as clear favourites at a best price of 6/5. Spurs can be backed way out at 5/2, with the draw on offer at 27/10.
The burning question ahead of the second leg will be how each side will lineup for the match, and I would definitely recommend waiting for the team news ahead of placing any bets. It's a difficult one for Spurs because whilst they are unlikely to go through now, they will certainly want to save face and not potentially bomb out by a cricket score. However, based on the manner in which Pochetino has approached the Europa League this season, I'm not sure he's that bothered either way.
Domestically, both sides are in decent form and sit five points behind the leaders in second place. Dortmund face a tricky away tie at Augsburg at the weekend, whilst Spurs entertain an in-form Bournemouth at White Hart Lane. I wouldn't be surprised if Dortmund go strong at the start and look for an away goal to put the tie to bed, then they may rest a few players. If this is the case and Spurs name a weakened side, then I would throw the kitchen sink at the Germans to win at 6/5 with Bet365 for my first Tottenham vs Borussia Dortmund prediction.

Moving over to the goalscoring market for my second Tottenham vs Borussia Dortmund prediction and Dortmund striker Pierre Aubameyang is the standout man you should be looking at. The recently crowed African player of the year is currently placed in the top five forwards in European football for his goalscoring exploits and has already notched a hat-trick in the competition this season. Aubameyang is fetching a decent price of 6/5 to score at anytime in the 90 minutes with Bet365 and this is well worth taking advantage of should he make the starting 11.
Finally, for a bit of a longshot and my last betting tip on Spurs vs Dortmund tonight, and without wishing to put all my eggs in one basket, I'm looking at another bet surrounding Dortmund's leading scorer this season. Sky Bet run a fun little market whereby punters can bet on goals to be scored with a header. Aubameyang opened the scoring last week with a well-taken headed goal, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he may do so again. With this in mind, back the Dortmund number 17 to get on the scoresheet with his head at 9/1 with Sky Bet.
