Although a large portion of the current term obviously remains to be played at this particular stage in the proceedings, the 2015/16 campaign has so far produced one of the most captivating Premier League seasons in recent memory.
No one single team – except the mighty Leicester City perhaps – seem to have taken the English top-flight by storm as of yet, there have been upsets galore ahead of the New Year – and although it remains tough to predict just what lies in wait across the remainder of this ever enjoyable season – it really does seem as if anything could happen come the culmination of the current campaign.
So then, who has ultimately outshone all his individual competition this term as the overall player of the season so far?
Well, although Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil has recently taken many strong plaudits among the English top-flight this season…
Mesut Ozil – Player of the season. Head & shoulders above any other Premier league player and probably those in every other European League.

…there are of course those who fail to be won over by the German’s exploits in the Gunners jersey thus far…
Özil continuously in team of the season (so far) I really can't see all the fuss behind him. Good player, but not as good as he was in Spain

West Ham’s Dimitri Payet initially saw much praise come his way before suffering a frustratingly timed injury a good few weeks back…
Dimitri Payet has been a revelation. My Premier league player of the season so far. The boy is special!

…yet it seems Odion Ighalo and Watford FC have seemingly stepped up their game in the talented Frenchman’s absence…
Sanchez Flores manager of the season, Ighalo player of the season… Called it ?

However, as Leicester City’s triumphant form arguably goes down as the most significant talking point of the entire season so far, perhaps the King Power Stadium evidently plays host to the Premier League’s best player in 2015/16.
Jamie Vardy has obviously amassed a great deal of admiration in recent weeks for his record-breaking goal-scoring exploits this season…
Jamie Vardy has to win the PFA player of the year award this season surely? even if his form dips? any thoughts @SkySports

…but Riyad Mahrez seemingly takes the crown above all else…
Riyad Mahrez is hands down Player of the Season so far. Some consistency!
— Richard Chambers (@newschambers) December 19, 2015
Jamie Vardy isn't even the best player at Leicester this season, never mind player of the year #Mahrez #Leicestercity

The in-form Foxes man has recorded some great stats this term it must be said…
@Mahrez22 so far this season: 13 Goals 7 Assists Eden Hazard 14/15 season: 14 Goals 9 assists Player of the season ? #lcfc #mahrez #stats
— MahrezVines (@MahrezVines) December 19, 2015
…leaving many to question the overall validity of the Premier League if the Algerian international fails to win the ultimate individual accolade come the end of term…
If Mahrez doesn't win the player of the season award, I'm deactivating. #lcfc

In the end, Riyad Mahrez ultimately deserves all the relevant credit so far in 2015/16, and easily represents the most impressive player of the season going into the remainder of the domestic campaign…
#Mahrez edit! Is he the best player in the league at the moment? – @NetflixnPhil pic.twitter.com/E6kOyIdIlr
