A 3-1 victory over Liverpool will have boosted morale in the camp, and the doubts over Louis Van Gaal seem to have been wiped away in one single game.

PSV are unbeaten this season and, ominously for United, they managed a 6-0 win in their most recent game on Saturday away to Cambuur Leeuwarden.

 

Eindhoven may be unbeaten, but they have already dropped points to ADO Den Haag as well as Heerenveen, and the Dutch Champions, who finished 17 points clear of Ajax last season, see themselves sitting in fourth will 11 points from their opening 5 games.

 

Their star men of last campaign, Georginio Wijnaldum, Oscar Hiljemark, and Memphis have all departed and their replacements are still finding their feet at the Philips Stadion. Gaston Pereiro, Hector Moreno and Davy Propper were all brought in over the summer and look to be blending in well to the squad.

 

Hopefully for United fans, they won't be subjected to the same type of football displayed in the first half against Liverpool again. Lifeless, limp and lacking passion – Van Gaal immediately changed things around at half time and the magic seemed to pay off.

 

Both United and PSV are well matched, and in front of the Dutch fans, this will be a tricky tie for the English side. However, after a morale boosting win over their arch enemies at the weekend, I think United can definetly take something from the game.

 

United’s strength has been their defensive resilience this season, and their performances home and away to an, albeit poor quality, Club Brugge side, were both assured and dominant. Van Gaal has an abundance of youth as well as experience to choose from and I think they will edge the clash in Holland.
