Czech Republic to beat Latvia – 2/5

Czech Republic are in a strong position to qualify from Group A after a vital comeback saw them overcome Kazakhstan 2-1 on Thursday. They travel to Latvia having recorded five wins and losing just one of their seven games so far, and know a positive set of results on Sunday will see them reach next summer’s competition; something which should provide a great incentive for victory.

Latvia have struggled for points this term, and have failed to win any of their games so far, with four draws and three defeats. The hosts have scored just three goals in seven matches, conceding an average of two per game. The sides drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture back in March, but with nothing more than pride to play for; expect the home side to lose once again here.

 

Italy to beat Bulgaria – 4/9

Italy went top of Group H on Thursday after a slender 1-0 victory over Malta as Croatia slipped up in Azerbaijan. With just a point advantage over the Croatians, and two over Norway, there’s no time for relaxing and another victory this weekend is important for the Italy as they welcome Bulgaria. The hosts are unbeaten so far with four wins in seven, and will be looking to secure automatic qualification as soon as possible.

Bulgaria meanwhile really need a win after a narrow defeat in Norway saw them slip five points behind the playoff spot. The visitors have been inconsistent so far, with two wins, two draws and three defeats, and although they have conceded just eight; they do lack goals having scored just seven times so far. They did hold Italy to a 2-2 draw back in March, but having lost home advantage; the Italians could prove too strong this time around.

 

Wales to beat Israel – 4/5

Wales are just 90 minutes away from sealing their place in France next summer after a memorable qualifying campaign thus far. They top group B and remain unbeaten with just three games remaining. A crucial late goal in Cyprus secured a 1-0 victory, meaning three points at home to Israel this weekend will complete the job. The hosts have only managed nine goals, but having conceded just two this campaign have often been able to rely on some magic from Gareth Bale to help them win games, and a repeat could be on the cards here.

Israel are still firmly in contention for a play-off spot with four wins so far, fresh off a comfortable 4-0 victory over Andorra in midweek. But a 3-0 home defeat to Wales in March could well be in the back of their mind, and will give the home side plenty of confidence of picking up another victory. With so much at stake for Wales it could well prove to be a tense affair, but given the situation you can bet the Welsh will be going all out for the win.
