Football Tips – Both Teams to Score Bet
Monaco v Valencia
Valencia travel to France holding a 3-1 aggregate lead and will be confident of gaining the result needed to see them through to the Champions League. Monaco need goals, and as such, Leonardo Jardim will need to set his side up to go on the attack from the outset. A 2-0 win would be enough to see Monaco through on away goals, but when it comes to two-legged European ties, the second legs almost always see a hatful of goals. Three out of Monaco’s last four games have ended with both teams scoring, and their defence is nowhere near as watertight as it was during last season’s epic journey to the Champions League quarter finals. Valencia may well have played out a pretty uninspiring 0-0 draw with Rayo in their La Liga opener, but I expect them to notch at least one against a Monaco side with goals on their mind.
Preston v Watford
Premier League new boys Watford travel north to face a Preston who are slowly finding their feet in the Championship after last May’s play off success. The early rounds of the League Cup often throw up many surprises, and I feel Watford may be one of the supposed giants to be slayed at the first hurdle. With a Premier League campaign to focus on, Quique Flores will inevitably look towards youth for this match and I expect both teams to be equally matched. Watford have a tendency to keep things tight at home, but away from Vicarage Road, they are almost always involved in high scoring affairs. They have scored in their last 10 away games, and they will be odds on to score against Preston. However, after four games already played in the Championship, Simon Grayson’s side are becoming accustomed to punching above their weight and see themselves in 12th place with one defeat, two draws and a win already this campaign. I feel that we will see a shock result and a high scoring affair for my next football tip.
Sunderland v Exeter
Premier League versus League Two would not immediately bring thoughts of BTTS, but all you have to look at is the shambolic way Sunderland have defended so far this season. Exeter are no strangers to facing Premier League opponents in cup competitions, having held Man United to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford 10 years ago. However, the match against The Black Cats is significantly more winnable than against United. City have won three of their five League Two matches so far and sit in eighth position. Sunderland are joint bottom in the top flight with just one point from three matches, having conceded eight goals in the process. There has been a significant lack of effort from the team, and I feel some of the players will be wishing they stayed at home, rather than face the wrath of the fans should they fall to an embarrassing defeat to Exeter. I think Sunderland will score, but Exeter are on form and will be confident of providing their travelling supporters with a night to remember on Wearside.
MK Dons v Cardiff
MK Dons have kicked off their first ever Championship campaign in style and currently sit in fourth position in the league. Cardiff are hot on their heels in seventh and both teams look relatively evenly matched going into their League Cup clash on Tuesday. MK have been keeping things tight so far in the League, but I feel the shackles will be loosened for a tie which has little consequence for them as a club. Cardiff’s last eight league games have all finished with both teams scoring, and I would be majorly surprised if both teams don’t score in a League Cup tie where neither team is worried about the prospect of being knocked out of. Attack will be both team’s primary focus and I see this one being an absolute stonker.
