Weekend football tips for the opening Saturday of the new football season – here our tipster has picked out his three best predictions on Saturday afternoon’s coupon.
The football season is finally here and for today’s football betting tips I have picked out my best three bets for Saturday 8th August in the Football League.
Weekend Football Tips – Football League 8th August
Birmingham vs Reading Tip – DRAW
In the corresponding fixture last season, Birmingham ran out comfortable 6-1 winners. The Blues were on a good run for form after the recent appointment of Gary Rowett, and as a result of this defeat, Nigel Adkins was sacked as Reading manager.
Now under the control of Steve Clarke, I can see this being a much more prosperous season for The Royals, as they seek a return to the Premier League. However, Birmingham will want to continue the good form they showed in the second half of last season and won’t be easy to turn over at St. Andrews. A draw could be a good start for both sides and makes up my first weekend football tip.
The best odds for Birmingham v Reading to be a draw are 23/10 with Ladbrokes.
Coventry vs Wigan Tip – AWAY WIN
Coventry only managed five wins at home in the entirety of last season, but still managed to avoid relegation in the last few weeks of the season. Wigan have made a lot of changes after their surprise relegation to League One. New manager Gary Caldwell has made a number of strong signings, bringing in the likes of Will Grigg, Craig Davies and Max Power.
I’d expect them to be pushing for an immediate return to the Championship and beginning that quest with an away win looks like a real possibility.
The best odds for Wigan to beat Coventry are 29/20 with Bet Victor.
Portsmouth vs Dag & Red Tip – HOME WIN
Just like last season, Portsmouth are the favourites to top League Two and gain promotion back to England’s third tier. They really struggled with the expectation last campaign and ended up languishing in mid-table obscurity.
Dagenham and Redbridge’s for in the second half of the season saw them pull away from the bottom two, and even managed to finish two places above Pompey at the end of the year. However, they are amongst the relegation favourites this season and I expect Portsmouth will want to make a statement in front of the Fratton Park faithful.
The best odds for Portsmouth to beat Dagenham and Redbridge are 4/6 with Bet Victor.
Best Odds on the Treble – 12.5/1 with Bet Victor (register here > bet £25 > wins get £337.55 > win OR LOSE get a £25 free bet).
