Hoffenheim are a German Bundesliga side and quite a good one at that, they’ve narrowly missed out on European qualification the last few season. Leeds suffered last season as a result of all the off the field goings on at Elland Road, I think the best they can hope for this coming season will be a run at the play offs but that might be too much for them. Hoffenheim should have enough strength to win this one, even if they field a weakened side.

 

Augsburg vs Norwich: Augsburg win @ 31/20

Augsburg are another German top flight side and have done really well in the last few seasons, last season they finished in a Europa League spot and they beat Bayern in a friendly a few weeks ago. I think this will be a close game and it will depend on what kind of teams the managers put out but I think Augsburg are the better team on paper and should have the beating of Norwich, it should help that the German side are a bit further along in their pre-season preparations too.

 

Wolfsburg vs Villarreal: Wolfsburg win @ 21/20

This is a game in the Emirates cup, a yearly pre-season tournament hosted by Arsenal. Wolfsburg finished the season very strongly, finishing as runners up to Bayern meaning they qualified for the Champions League. Villarreal had another solid season  in the Spanish top flight and will be looking to build on that this year. Wolfsburg are definitely the stronger team and have more strength in depth than their opponents so I fancy them to win this one.

 

Burton vs Birmingham: Birmingham win @ 13/10

Burton secured promotion to League One under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink last season whilst Birmingham managed stave off relegation in the Championship, this season they’ll be hoping to push for the playoffs. I think Birmingham are just going to have a bit too much quality and experience and should come away as winners.

 

Walsall vs Aston Villa: Villa win @ 4/5

This game is a bit of a local derby and there should be a good atmosphere, I fancy it to be competitive for a pre-season game. Villa will be without Christian Benteke for this game, with the striker having completed his transfer to Liverpool. Even without him Villa should have firepower to beat a Walsall side who ply their trade in League One.
