Who will win the Premier League title in 2015/16?

Who will be the new challengers for the Premier League title next season?

The Premier League title always remains a captivating proposition for the best sides in England to quest for in each passing season. It’s a measure of which team is truly deserving of the praise above all else, and which outfits ultimately only serve to blow hot air and fall short when it really matters.

Jose Mourinho’s formidable Chelsea side eventually showed themselves to be the strongest team the Premier League had to offer last season, but with a whole host of other outfits looking to strengthen this summer, the Blues won’t be without their fair share of competition next term.

Whilst it remains difficult to register the true potential of each side before the summer transfer window has actually reached its conclusion – just which outfits ultimately look the most well placed to eventually land the Premier League title as it stands currently?

Chelsea:

It largely goes without saying that Chelsea remain front-runners to retain their Premier League title once again next season when the new campaign finally gets underway.

In possessing the best squad in the league at the moment, as well as being able to call upon the usual finances that often back Chelsea up in the modern era – some have even suggested that Jose Mourinho could in fact be capable of replicating a legacy at Stamford Bridge similar to what Sir Alex Ferguson achieved during his time with Manchester United.

With the likes of Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard, John Terry and Nemanja Matic all still on board for Mourinho next season, the Blues will certainly be up near the top again come the end of term, and could easily transfer their successes of 2014/15 into the new campaign.

Manchester City:

This summer will certainly be a meaningful one for the Citizens as they look to brush aside last term’s rather disappointing shortcomings.

Manuel Pellegrini looks all set to keep his job at the Etihad next season, but with more English faces needed at Manchester City to boost the number of home-grown players in the squad, some serious work in the transfer market needs to get underway before the new campaign actually begins.

The likes of Jack Wilshere and Raheem Sterling could potentially aid Pellegrini’s cause next season for sure, but as neither of those aforementioned deals have been completed as of yet, Manchester City currently look somewhat incomplete at this stage in the proceedings.

Arsenal:

It seems many of the Emirates faithful simply don’t want to see the back of Arsene Wenger until the experienced French manager finally wins another league title in North London.

With Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez currently making up just some of the genuine world class talent among the current Gunners squad already however – with perhaps one more marquee signing likely to be sourced for Wenger this summer – now looks as good a time as any for Arsenal to once again reassert their claim at the top of the Premier League table.

A few more Francis Coquelin type enforcers will have to be signed before the transfer window comes to a close though, yet if a repeat of last season’s injury worries come back to haunt the Gunners again next term, Arsene Wenger’s ambitious title plans may as well be written off immediately.

Manchester United:

Voices within the wider footballing community have repeatedly spoken of this particular era in Manchester United’s history as a distinctly transitional phase.

However, as Louis van Gaal has overseen several extensive spending sprees behind the scenes as Old Trafford during his brief stay at the club, no more excuses can be applied if Manchester United once again fall short of their targets throughout the 2015/16 campaign.

Having said that though, without a stronger defence in place for the Red Devils next term, the club’s Dutch boss might be left embarrassed come the end of the season.

LVG’s side may not win the title immediately next year, but with the advent of Champions League football back on board at Old Trafford in 2015/16, this once unstoppable English outfit do at least seem to be heading in the right direction once again.

Liverpool:

If 2014/15 proved one thing, and one thing only for Brendan Rodgers – it would be that his side are nowhere near as effective without a certain Luis Suarez on board. It seems obvious in the cold light of day, but as Liverpool’s signings really failed to make much of an impact last term, the Reds seemingly have to go down as the rank outsiders to land the title next season.

It’s not an impossible task of course, and with Roberto Firmino looking set to join up with the Reds after his Copa America duty with Brazil comes to an end this summer, maybe Liverpool could find themselves in better shape than most expect across the new term.

Without the prospect of playing in Europe’s most illustrious club tournament in 2015/16 however, attracting enough quality in the transfer market may ultimately prove too difficult for Brendan Rodgers this time around.
