As much as any player wants to win trophies with their team, they also love personal honours. One of the main ones each season is the Premier League Golden Boot for the top goalscorer. As well as an intriguing contest for the players, it is also interesting for punters.
The market usually offers big prices due to the sheer number of players but with some smart betting, there is great prices and great winning to be had, here I’ll go through some of my main contenders of who could pick up the award.

Robin Van Persie 7/2 (Sky Bet): It is difficult to ignore the Dutch hitman when it comes to any sort of goal scoring market due to his phenomenal record over the last two seasons. He has managed 56 goals over the last two campaigns and picked up the award in both of them seasons. Van Persie is the clear favourite for the award and probably rightly so. The price is short but to be honest Van Persie probably will win it. He has won the award in two different teams and no matter who is in charge he will score goals. Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry have both won the award three times in a row and I really can see RVP joining them with that prestigious honour.
Theo Walcott: 40/1 (Bet Victor): One of the most surprising ones for me was the odds on Theo Walcott to take the award. Walcott managed 14 goals last season, his best ever tally and appears to be on the up. He managed three in his last four at the end of last season. His steady improvement paired with Wenger’s reluctance to play him through the middle loosening means this looks like a big price. Bearing in mind Bet Victor are offering E/W at ¼ for the first four places, that could be the way to go, 10/1 for Walcott to be in the top four goalscorers is really really good value.
Romelu Lukaku 25/1 (Bet Victor): One of the Premier League’s surprise packages last season was Romelu Lukaku. He managed 17 goals for West Brom on loan from Chelsea. His impressive form has made it hard for Mourinho to ignore the big Belgian. With Torres and Ba misfiring and no striker yet through the door (Cavani rumours won’t go away) he could be first choice at the Bridge next year. With a higher calibre of player around him, who knows how Lukaku could do. E/W might be advisable once more but he could make a real push if Jose keeps the faith. However, bet on Lukaku with caution, if Chelsea invest in a new striker, don’t expect him to be first choice which could hugely damage his chances.
Gareth Bale 16/1 (Bet Victor): After last season, it’s almost rude to talk about goals without mentioning Gareth Bale. The Welshman managed 21 last season, all from midfield. He now looks set to stay at Tottenham for another season and should carry on to sparkle in North London. He was up from 9 goals the season before last and should carry on to go from strength to strength in the prime of his career. He is the main man I can see pushing RVP for the award and 16/1 is a nice price if you don’t fancy the Dutchmen, once more though E/W could provide a bit of safety.
